Hi all! I'm new to this site. I love the sense of community on this site and appreciate those who share their experience and advice.
I've been in IT for 20 years and looking to finally get that degree. The Purdue Global path looks really promising. The goal is to use Sophia, Study.com and Amazon certifications to get to 75% of transferrable credits (135 quarter credits).
I've signed up for Sophia and have completed 4 courses so far. I already have the AWS Cloud Practitioner cert and will go for the AWS Solutions Architect Associate cert which will bring 61 quarter credits.
I've put together a degree plan and would welcome any comments. The spreadsheet includes links to the degree page and course/cert equivalents.
Here's the link:

Purdue Global, BS IT
Method:
- Sophia (13 courses)
- Study.com (5 courses)
- W3Schools (PHP Certification)
- Purdue Global ExcelTrack (2 terms)

Which degree path are you looking to complete at PUG - ExcelTrack or the regular semester based track?
My husband is attending PUG now in the Analytics ExcelTrack. The Communicating Professionalism course is no longer part of his degree. It's still on the website, but the course isn't being offered anymore so you may not have to worry about that one.
Introduction to Information Technology transfers in as IT190 so it may not come in as a gen ed course.
The social science you can complete on Sophia.
You need to complete at least 45 credits at PUG. You can only transfer in 75% of a degree program.
Also one thing to keep in mind....are you considering attending grad school in the future? If you are many require a 3.0 in your final 60 semester based credits. PUG is on the quarter credit system.

The regular pathway is a semester based system. The ExcelTrack is a competency based format. It's not semester based. You take 1 class at a time - most of them are 1 credit (a 6 credit class is broken down into 6 1 credit classes). You have 1 assignment to complete to show you're competent in the subject. This program is designed for professionals who have experience in the degree subject matter. There is no set schedule like discussions due on Thursday, discussion responses due on Sunday, a 3-5 page paper due Sunday....those type of things are every week in the regular pathway. If you're someone who has the motivation to truck on through classes at your own speed then the ExcelTrack may be a better fit. It can be faster and you're not held to weekly due dates.

A number of schools have launched Global online programs....UMass is buying Brandman and relaunching it as UMass Global. UMass is the state university system for Massachusetts. Better than what UMGC used to be called. LOL

I'm not sure how the TEEX cybersecurity courses transfer into PUG, but it might be worth looking into rather than having to pay to do it with SDC for the intro to cybersecurity.

I thought I remember someone saying ExcelTrack courses were easier and no deadlines.
I can't see your degreeplan, says no access.
I would suggest CLEP for English comp 1, 2 rather than messing around with Sophia. One test is better than waiting around forever for people to grade your papers at Sophia.
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.
Course Experience: CLEP, Instantcert, Sophia.org, Study.com, Straighterline.com, Onlinedegree.org, Saylor.org, Csmlearn.com, and TEL Learning.
Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management

The ExcelTrack doesn't have weekly deadlines. You do need to complete all of the work in each course by the end of the term though. Uncompleted work does not carry over to the next term. So you can't start a class in term a and finish it in term b. I don't know that the courses are easier. Each class is broken down into 1 credit courses where you have assessments (test), reading, course content, assignments. So a 5 credit course will have 5 of these. many courses don't have just 1 assignment either. My husband is working on one course right now and has 3 things to do for the assignment - 3 separate things including a paper, an ERD in VISIO, and I forgot what the other thing was he's working on. That's all for 1 credit. This is a 5 credit course so he'll have 4 more courses to do and each one is different.
Before taking CLEP, I would find out if PUG accepts the Eng Comp one and which one they require. I definitely wouldn't mess with Sophia for that. You're better off taking it through one of the community colleges talked about on here.

ss20ts do you know if the Purdue ASK assessments count towards the 75% of credits you bring in? Or can you bring in your credits, do Purdue ASK Assessments first, then start the ExcelTrack at a later date?
If you click the link at the bottom (view additional info), it takes you to the CLEP exams pdf:

The regular program pricing is different - taking 45qcr there at $372/cr will cost you $16,740. The ExcelTrack program is $2,500/10-week term.
