Application Requirements Inquiry
#1
Member Wrote:Hi BJ, I have a question.

Have you come across course providers asking for personal information such as SSN, passport, drivers license and more?

Here's an email from one of the course providers.  Are all of this information necessary?  I filled their application form.

Thanks!

---

Dear Sir,

We received your order below. Are you interested to register on any of our courses? If yes, please advise which one you wish to start.

Thank you for your application of which we confirm receipt.

In order to be able to proceed further, we would require the following:

1. Passport
2. An updated CV
3. Copies of Academic records

We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Hey, It all depends on which course provider you're taking the classes from.

Some may require a bit more personal details, others just require the basics.

An example, for TEEX, they have a field for your SSN in the application, but that's an optional field.

Which course provider is it?

As for alt credits, I've never been asked those except for ID's on proctored tests.

This seems strange. Exam proctoring providers will of course ask for a valid government-issued photo ID, and colleges will ask for academic transcripts. However, I've never seen a requirement like this. Everyone has been fine with my state ID, and I don't even have a valid passport. I don't know why a non-collegiate course provider would want academic records or a CV. What organization is this?

I have been looking at Level 7 diplomas. I have seen requirements like this on the websites of a number of schools/course providers.  City College Oxford, for instance, requires:

Complete Applications Form
Passport
Previous qualifications
CV
Personal Statement

https://www.citycollegeoxford.co.uk/othm...20-credits

Given that it is on more than of these sites, I was wondering if these requirements, particularly the passport, are set by the accreditors (such as OTHM). The resume/CV also makes sense because you can enter these courses without a prior degree if you have significant, relevant knowledge and experience.
Master of Accountancy (taxation concentration), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.
Master of Business Administration (financial planning specialization), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.

BA, UMPI.  Accounting major; Business Administration major/Management & Leadership concentration.  Awarded Dec. 2021.

In-person/B&M: BA (history, archaeology)
In-person/B&M: MA (American history)

Sophia: 15 courses (42hrs)

Yes, these are for the UK and South Asia/ASEAN partner schools. Many of them require a picture/photograph from a Drivers License or some government ID such as a passport. I would send whatever info they need as long as it's not your SSN or something. Some schools in the country require this for community college, institutes, university to verify who you are before they can provide you with an education.
