I received my notice. My deadline is March 1st. I am sitting at 62.67 cr transferred in. I am in tears as I don't think I can do 28 cr by March 1st, but I am certainly going to try. And then what? Do all other courses have to be taken at TESU? Given the cost that will take me the rest of my life (52).

I am on my final leg of SOS-110 which I paid out of pocket for and makes me feel committed/tied to TESU. I understand the change, it makes sense...sigh...

It will be ok. There are TEL Learning courses, TECEPs, UExcels, ASU, community college courses, etc.

If you're up against the limit, I would recommend using as many ACE credits for your AOS as you can - especially if cost is an issue. I know the conventional wisdom here seems to be to use ACE for the gen eds, but with this new limit, more RAs are going to have to be taken, so people need to start being smarter about where they use up their ACE credits.

Gen Eds can be gotten fairly cheaply at many Community Colleges, whereas the Upper Level courses are generally only at universities with much higher per credit cost. So if you can use a Study.com UL course for your AOS - do!

Principles in Macroeconomics and US History courses are offered in almost every community college in the country, but something like Systems Analysis and Design, or Historiography are far harder to find - SDC's $90 is much better than a university charging $300 per credit hour.

Unless I’m mistaken or misunderstanding why do you have to have 28 credits done by March. ? It’s 90 credits max from non collegiate sources toward a degree. Not 90 credits by March or you lose out.

You can multi-task by taking anything from Sophia.org that hasn't been completed and doesn't duplicate your current credits, while you're working on the SOS-110. Once you get all you can from Sophia.org and the SOS-110, you need at least 100 credits transferred in to work on your Capstone. By following the email's recommendations, I would recommend doing the March capstone as that is the last term they will allow you to transfer more credits in...

Well, that sucks. AND, for those who already have 45/90cr of ACE/NCCRS, I suggest you get everything into them ASAP so you can go over the limit. If they don't get them by 3/1, you're out of luck.

This is what I meant by people who are already enrolled getting a break (small as it might be), you have 2 extra months. Anyone who hasn't already applied/enrolled is out of luck.

If TESU is your plan - apply (for the program you want), send transcripts, sign up for a TECEP (so you are enrolled!!) - and then get it done - you have 2 1/2 months to get them your Alt Credits (NCCRS/ACE). I strongly suggest you focus on the UL first where you can. LL credits are always available at a reasonable cost through the CCs.

When you factor in the time it takes to receive a grade, send transcripts and wait for an evaluation, you really only have about 2 months to get this done.

Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the University will accept a maximum of 90 undergraduate credits for a baccalaureate degree and 45 semester hours for an associate degree from noncollegiate providers regardless of the source. Noncollegiate providers are those with college credit recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE) and the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS). The sources include credit earned from military training and education on the Joint Services Transcript (JST), corporate training, College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support Exam (DSST) and Advanced Placement Exams as well as credits earned from TESU approved educational providers.

If you have additional ACE/NCCRS transfer credit that you intend to apply to your TESU degree, we will still accept credits above the 45/90 provided that you submit your transcript(s) for all ACE and NCCRs recommended courses to us by March 1, 2021.

It does not get any easier for students who are struggling.

yep. the March 1 thing is for the case of someone who is enrolled and wanted to go over 90 non collegiate credits under the soon to be old policy.  like it is assuming some credits are in progress and being finished -- grace period to get it done.

COSC and TESU is on the ball, they have to follow what state and accreditation agencies require, in due time, I think Excelsior is going to have to institute something similar.  All in all, for those who are close to getting it done, do the Upper Level requirements right away and transfer them all in.  You can take the SOS-110 course in March at the latest and get your ACE/NCCRS transferred to them before you start or during the course as March 31 is the last day to have them fully transferred in.

If my term ends on dec 27 and I already applied for graduation this should not effect me correct?

you're good. Same here. My capstone ends in Jan, already applied for March Grad, fully paid everything.

We are coming in under the wire.

My feeling is that this is going to end poorly for COSC and TESU, schools like UMPI that take up to 90 and offer competency-based programs are going to be the "go to" for doing what so many of us that come here are doing.

Bring 90 CH from Sophia/SDC into a UMPI credit and it is quite possible to finish up a degree there in two of their terms and less money than the residency waiver alone at TESU is.

Looks like it was good either way. I have over 90 credits from Ace 15 from cc and soon to be 16 from tesu. That means I should meet the requirements either way old or new. Looks like my dual enrollment credits came in handy either way.
