BA English at TESU

Although Coopersmith places Medival Hispano-Jewish Poetry under "English", I am not positive that TESU brings it in as an English course; let alone an UL one. If someone can get confirmation, I'll definitely move it to that spot on the plan.

I have posted what it transferred in as for me (in my English thread, I think). Of course there is always the chance it changed.

Ah ha! After a bunch of searching, I finally found the thread where the equivalency is mentioned. It hadn't come up in a prior and less thorough search. Knowing I should look for one of your posts helped, thanks!

University of Arkansas has "CIED 3103 - Children and Adolescent Literature" for $495USD. It's quite possible that this wouldn't count towards a BA in English but it'd be worth finding out.

I would advise that if you are going to go with TESU that your wife enroll ASAP both to lock in the catalog and to gain access to advising.

Hmm... If you're going to the Big 3 - Having a major for undergrad is great, but you don't really need to have a Major in English to be an English teacher.  I usually would recommend getting a major in fields that "specifically require" a degree in whichever major people need, such as Specialized Engineering vertical.  I believe for teaching English, you can get by with a BALS with a Humanities concentration, an English major isn't really required.  You should define what Masters you need/want and the requirements to get there... work on that undergrad degree...

I would put more effort into Grad school to specialize in which field and focus on that concentration.  Having a Masters with a specialty will trump your Bachelors any day.  You have so many choices as you don't really need a specific undergrad to get into a grad program.  <This was what I was referencing in my previous post, you can get an undergrad degree in *anything*, not just Early Childhood Education and then go for the Masters of Science in Advanced Teaching with an International Baccalaureate endorsement! or whatever you prefer at the Masters level>

Here's an example of someone who was looking at a BA Sociology as one of their friends recommended a Social Science degree in order to get into the "Probation Officer or Investigator" field.  They're transferring in foreign credits and I noticed they were done with the BSBA and also done with the BALS, they would have only 83 credits for the BA Sociology, but changing it to the BALS Social Science they are now at 105.  They are going for an ASNSM Comp Sci, BSBA General Management and a BA Liberal Studies with a Social Science concentration.

Now, the kicker for you is, if you're heading to TESU you can go for a BALS with a Humanities Concentration or another school for that matter, and select a combo of concentrations (2 or 3 areas of concentrations to focus on). So, for example, the Humanities, you can take courses in Communications, English, Literature, etc, this is the focus you're into, you can decide the courses you want and take them to satisfy the need for the requirements to get into the Masters and also satisfy the courses you desire and want!

You mean, enroll without actually taking any course from TESU. She has just started this whole process.

I think we're locked because of TECEP exams she's been taking, but advising is good. So, in short, she could enroll completely to get some advise while she's taking courses and accumulating credits outside TESU. Later, I don't know, in 6 months we ask for evaluation and start thinking of her AOS, and do whatever got pre-approved by the advisor.

You don't have to take any classes from TESU in order to enroll. All that is required is to apply and then pay for a TECEP, which your wife is already doing anyway. Being a fully enrolled student will lock in the catalog (important because they could change things on January 1) and allows you to plan things out with an advisor.

I completely understand you and I have talked to her about it. I think the best plan for us financially would be BALS, so she wouldn't have to spend about 2k on UL. Although it is her dream to have a BA in English, you know? She'll read this thread soon. I guess, the safest, as already mentioned: continue taking courses, get as many as possible from Sofia, then other sources, later on, she can decide what to do for AOS.

FYI, TESU allows you to have multiple degrees on your evaluation at once so you don't even have to decide until she's ready to start her AOS. I would suggest applying for the English degree ASAP and then having them add a BALS evaluation (with chosen concentration). You won't have to choose between them until graduation and you'll be able to track progress more easily with both evaluations in your account.

Only now I received an answer from SNHU, interestingly they award credits from SDC but not TECEP.
It settles the plan to continue with TESU.

Oh wow. SNHU has been I think the only reported school(on the forum) that doesn't take TECEPs.

Did you ask about this?  It doesn't sound right.  The registrar may have not understood what the TECEP was.  I'd contact them and discuss this.
