Question to Excelsior Psych Majors after June 2007
#1
was wondering, how did you complete the

PSY*430 PHYSIOLOGICAL PSYCHOLOGY requirement?

There are no Dsst or Cleps, nor excelsior courses.

Thanks

Frustrating, isn't it?

See my post on Resources for EC Psych Majors for help.

Yeah ;/

I've seen the list before, but are they online courses?

And Sad I think there are requirements for the courses, they might not take EC exams or exams.

:/

so Which one are ya taking

Those are all distance learning courses. The courses that don't have an asterisk by them definitely need Excelsior approval. The ones that do have asterisks should be easy to approve, because Excelsior is listing them (for the other college) in their own catalog.

I am taking the Psychology GRE in October. If I get a score in the 80th percentile or higher, Excelsior will grant me the 30 credits I need for my psychology major. Saves at least $2500 in online class and exam fees!

I've thought about doing the GRE too... but does it allow free allocation of credits into any requirement in the Psychology degree?

Say...Phys. Psych???

The online courses doesn't start until Sep :/
Do you know of any starting soon Sad

Thanks Wink

Excelsior assigns the credits as a lump with no detail: 30 credits for psychology. The first 12 are lower division and the next 18 are upper. If you have any existing psychology credits that apply to the major, chances are those will cancel out some of your credits granted through the GRE. So, for example, if you've already taken Lifespan Development and Intro to Psych, you will only get 24 credits for a high score on the Psych GRE, not 30.

If they grant you all 30 credits, then you will have met the Psych major requirements that EC doesn't offer courses or exams for. At least, that's my understanding -- always check with your advisor to be sure.

What I posted is all I know about the classes...there might be summer ones but they probably would have started already. Since I decided to pursue the GRE, I didn't keep looking. Smile
