Using my degree to apply for jobs, there is a distinct lean towards a BS as being 'more substantial'. Having legit minors (TESU didn't allow it) would have been preferable, looking back, as well
I don't think this is true at all, since it totally depends on the major, and the school. Many computer science degrees are BA's for instance, and I wouldn't say that's more legit than a BS in General Studies at all.
Many schools only offer BA's. Some offer both. Some give you the option for your degree - I've seen schools offer a BA or a BS in Psych for instance, but there is zero difference between the major courses. A BS has you take more math & science courses, while a BA has you take more humanities & social sciences. Most of the "A" or "S" part of things is up in the GE area, so most employers just don't care.
