The Army set up 500 new jobs (400 civilians) in its Army Futures Command (AFC) launched in Austin in October of 2018 using this top 10 list.  I think Austin might be in my plans to visit to snowbird to one day?

Wow, I wonder how they "rank or score" the system.
Especially when the educational and quality scores are so different...

Austin beat out other finalist cities Boston, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Raleigh, North Carolina.  

For the Army Austin is the best bet of the top 10.  A few of the top ten would be a joke for the Army to even go to.  Easy selection if you ask me.

For future Snowbirds like me, it's the same. Only 4 are warm weather locations and only Texas (Austin) is pro-retirees.

I live right next to two of these cities (San Francisco and San Jose) and I can attest that this seems pretty accurate. Particularly the San Jose/Silicon Valley area... it seems like at least half of the people I know who work in SV are Ph.D.'s or Ph.D. students.

This is one of the things that eventually drove me to complete my degree (and continues to inspire me to pursue a postgraduate degree); it felt weird interviewing people with masters and doctorate degrees while I didn't even have a baccalaureate degree.

Hehe, I lived in the NoVA/DC metro area for nearly two decades prior to moving back home to San Francisco about 6 years ago. For the most part I don't miss it, but occasionally I do miss having multiple seasons. My daughter will never see snow unless we make a special trip to visit the mountains or something.

So I moved from the #2 area to be split between the #3 and #5 areas.

There are a lot of higher degree holders in the NoVA/DC Metro area because most of them work for the government or for contractors, which makes a lot of sense.
