Generally, you won't find a more efficient one than the Bachelor's in Liberal Arts (without concentration) degree from Excelsior College.  TESU and COSC will have the same type of degree.

I'm curious what you mean by efficient?  I'm currently trying to assess which school would be better for this type of degree: TESU or Excelsior.

TESU will take credits from 1980 just like EC or COSC will take.  It might be that the credits you've brought in were more conducive to a particular degree at EC - but that doesn't mean that TESU might not be a better choice for someone else.

When I brought in my credits, TESU happened to be the best choice for me - they fit perfectly into a BSBA in HR.  At EC, I would have had to go higher in math than I wanted (precalc for the BSBA there), and I didn't have enough UL credits for the degree (I already had all of my UL at TESU).  It just really depends on the degree, and the previous credits earned.  There is no single right choice for everyone.

And, BTW - when I first came to this forum, EC degrees were different than they were now.  They had more - they've gotten rid of a lot.  Added some, but gotten rid of more.  Some of their gen ed requirements changed (they added ethics I think).

All schools change their degrees periodically.  BUT, unlike COSC and EC, TESU lets you lock in a catalog and then take practically as long as you'd like to get your degree, for no added costs except a TECEP once a year (which is $75 and earns you credits towards your degree).  I took 3 1/2 years to get my degree at TESU after enrollment, locking in my 2014/15 catalog, which meant no changes to my degree from that point forward.  At EC/COSC, in order to stay locked in, I would have had to pay per-term fees every few months, and it would have cost me several thousand dollars just to do that at either of those schools.  At TESU, there are no per-term fees.

I wonder though if based on OP'S coursework and BS in technical studies might actually be quicker than a BALS. Because all occupational type courses aren't liberal arts and probably wouldn't count towards liberal studies AOS.

That's a good point. I guess it would depend on how fast they felt they could finish some extra liberal studies courses vs doing the extra lab sciences.

Yeah for most people the BALS is the quicker option, but I think this might be one of the rare cases where it isn't.

Thanks to all for the responses. I have applied at TESU for the tech studies program, now I just wait and see where I'm at transfer wise.

The only thing I'd be against with the liberal studies degree is how it would be perceived from potential employers. I'm not sure if it would be looked down upon or not. I have several good certifications/licenses that are related to my career field so the degree in a specific subject may not be as important as just having a degree is.

I think this would be the most ideal option.

I think a "technical" degree would benefit you most since you plan to go into a technical field. Once you get your academic evaluation back, you can plan out your remaining credits fairly easily (we can help you with that as well).

I agree the Study.com route is quicker and more economical overall - no reason to wait, and allows for the Study.com affiliation discount rate.  I'd recommend the OP start on gaining those credits through Study ASAP, as even if another degree path is chosen the Physics falls under Gen Eds - something the OP (Troymen) is short on either way.
