Today I took my first ever DSST and got a 453. I was surprised because I thought they switched to the same scoring as CLEP (20 to 80). So my question is how are DSSTs scored? Are some scored on the 200 to 500 scale and some on the 20 to 80 scale? Or does it depend on where you take it?
And is a 453 a good score? What grade or percentage does it translate to? What would it translate to on the 20-80 scale?

DSST passing score is 400 for all exams (at least, I think they have it that way now). They used to be on a different scale similar to the CLEP, but that changed a very long time ago (maybe 10 years ago-ish).
They also used to give grade-equivalents for their exams, but that went away a long time ago as well. But 400 is generally considered a C, with 434 generally considered a B - I don't think they ever said what would be considered an A.
BTW, CLEP also used to have grade equivalents, but it was different for the different exams. I only know this because I have the info for the 2 I took: Marketing considered a 65 a B, while Management was a 63.

Thanks. I thought it was the other way around. I guess just seeing the different scoring numbers in everyone's signatures made it confusing.

I took my CLEP and DSST exams about 8 years back and they still issued grades back then. As far as scoring I think they all vary based on the exam, but on my MIS DSST I ended up with a 467 and that was considered an A at the time, so maybe it is just ~33 points across the board? (400-433 = C, 434-466 = B, 467-500 = A).

I did some googling on the DSST website and apparently, the % you need to pass is different for each test.
