Institutes Ethics OR TEEX Cybersecurity?
#1
Which is easier: the free ethics class by the Institutes or the TEEX Cybersecurity for everyone?  One of the friends of my college age daughter lacks 2 credits to finish her degree at Cal State Stanislaus and they will accept ACE for her final two credits.  She started the TEEX course, Cybersecurity for Everyone, but it is taking her a great deal of time and she is finishing her last semester of college right now.  Is the ethics class faster for *most* people on this forum?  Answers/input would be appreciated by those who have taken both.

Also, shorter. Smile

The ethics course also has the advantage of being counted as GenEd/GE elective in many places, where the TEEX courses may be free electives unless your daughter's friend is in a CIS / CS / IT / Cybersecurity program and can use the cybersecurity credits.

My daughter's friend is a psych major.  She lacks 2 credits in anything to complete her degree.  She needs the quickest and easiest 2 credits to finish her degree - that's it.  Thank you for the two replies so far.  I will speak to her about trying the ethics course.

She is going to study for a master's degree, but wants to work in her field a couple of years to make sure she chooses the correct graduate program.  Right now, she just needs to complete her BA - this semester!

If your daughter's friend is interested in taking the ethics course, she should make sure to verify with her school that the course will be accepted for her degree program and doesn't conflict with anything else. Not all courses will be accepted by every college, even if they accept ACE. The course can be completed in a few days (or a day of dedicated work) so it would be a good choice for a quick & easy course if it is acceptable.

Haven't done TEEX, but Institutes took me three hours. As was just mentioned, she could also do the two Sophia courses which took me about the same (combined), probably a little faster

Yes for sure check with the school because some just accept ACE military credits. I think Sophia would probably the best bet for transfer over TEEX and Institutes because it seems to be the most likely to be accepted. They have it on their website many different Cal State Universities on the page listing where students have had their credit transfer. Plus the Sophia courses would be the most applicable to her major and the least boring option (at least in my opinion.)

https://www.sophia.org/online-courses-fo...t#ace-link

Use the Sophia Credit Transfer Service and they will let you know if the free courses transfer to your University. Click where it says "Transfer Man" with the superhero graphic.

I am pretty up-to-date on Cal State schools, and I've never heard of a single one that will take ACE courses EXCEPT from a JST (military). Even then, it's very limited.

She might want to try CLEP instead. All CSU's take CLEP exams, to varying degrees - get the list from the school, ask which ones they will take for her degree/program, and then have her study up and go take it. They will not take all of them, only some, so you definitely need their list.

I also haven't heard that any accept DSST exams, so unfortunately, that's probably out of the question.

I was gonna say this may be the quickest 2 credits. Unless she has the knowledge already to pass a CLEP or other exam.
