Study.com's Communications 120 (TESU COM-290)
#11
From the student perspective, the main difference between NCCRS credit recommendation and ACE credit recommendation is that ACE includes a transcript as part of their service. While ACE is also better known and accepted in more places, ultimately if the college accepts both you shouldn't sweat it.

In either case, TESU requires direct transcripts from Study.com now, so if you're planning to get a degree from them, ACE or NCCRS doesn't matter.

I have an entry on my "Academic Evaluation" that says "0010887 TESU-ACE 08/14/18"
I passed my "Communications 120" but it still says "Oral Communication 3 SH (Not started)"
any idea how long it takes before it shows up on your "Academic Evaluation"?

Unfortunately it can take up to 20 days from when it arrives at TESU.  The good news is it is usually quicker than this, but in my experience it is definitely more than week or so.

Hope this helps.

I received confirmation that study.com's Communications 120 Presentation Skills in the Workplace comes in as TESU COM-290.  Additionally it satisfies a General Education Elective requirement.  This is where I need it.

Why is this important?

27 Quiz Class with no writing assignments.  With some course overlap, I have 17 of of the 27 already completed.

Here is exactly what I received back from TESU:

Thank you for the email. Yes Study.com's COM120 Presentation Skills in the Workplace, will transfer in as COM-290 and satisfy your General Education electives.

I hope you found this helpful.

So the final exam is a proctored quiz? No writing assignments or having to upload videos of speeches? I know you are using it is a gen ed elective, but this sounds better than Sophia or Straighterline if TESU will accept it for the Oral Communications requirement.

Okay good, no videos to upload. It looks like I will be taking this course with Study.com. I will take this at the same time when I take my Biology with Lab (you don't deal with the hassle of a Lab Kit like you would at Straighterline, Study.com's course has a virtual lab).

And the SDC lab is much cheaper @ ~$40 and no shipping.

And don't forget, if you take Bio w/Lab at SL, you pay $49 for the Bio course, and $49 for the lab course, on top of the $99 membership fee, and then pay for the $100 lab kit.  $297 total for 4cr ($74.25/cr).  If you do the Bio w/Lab at Study.com, you're paying $199 for the monthly fee, plus $40 for the lab kit.  $239.  But, you also get an additional course.  So that's $239 for 7cr ($34.14/cr).  Or if you really want to maximize it, take Bio w/Lab and Calculus, and then it's $239 for 10cr ($23.90/cr).  Not that I suggest anyone take Calc!!  Tongue

For what it's worth, TESU Academic Advising emailed me this today:

"As per your inquiry, Presentation Skills in the Workplace through Study.com will transfer in as Presentational Speaking (COM-290) and may be applied to the Oral Communications requirement of a BSBA program (2016 catalog or later)."
