Aspiring BA CS/MATH double major (Thanks TrailRunr!!!)
#11
First off, I would work on the prerequisite courses, such as your general education and lower level comp sci/math courses to get you up to speed on the subjects and earning credit. I would start and finish at least two Study.com courses (transferred into TESU by end of May) and quickly enroll in TESU at the latest June 2018.

If you are going for the 36 credits/12 courses at TESU, it may work to your advantage to take full course load every semester, hopefully, you would have a few courses overlapping in materials learned over the months. For people who have never taken TESU courses, it may be a bit overwhelming with a few courses all at once, especially when you're working.

But I think if you take a full course load a semester, you only have a few months with overlapping learning, especially if you take the same type of "courses". Do all Comp Sci or all Math/semester... hopefully the subject matter isn't too different, otherwise, if it was me, I'll go "crazy" getting the concepts memorized...

Can you confirm the following can be done for yourself? For the TESU comprehensive plan, it's for a year up to 12 courses. Since each term is 3 months, you can take up to 4 terms. Each term, take 3 courses and you'll be done with all 12 TESU courses in the year. The problem is when to start taking them and how to "finish" them.

I would spread out your TESU courses like bjcheung says. I would also go crazy if there was too much similarity in courses, if I were taking more than about 3 of them.

Did you do that today ? The Nonlinear Differential Equations course still shows an option to obtain a certfiicate, but according to what you're saying we can forget about EDX's as credits for TESU MATH UL's...

BTW, Thanks to every single one of you for providing your guidance. I am processing all the advices and tips I've been getting here as well as reading older threads. I'll come back with a reformulated plan given the new info from all of you.

I completed the first two last year and gave up on the third. It kind of felt at the time like it was the last train leaving the station. Nice program while it lasted.

I'm currently unemployed so I can definitely take a full course load each semester.

Exactly what I've been struggling with. I have 0 credits as of right now. So I'd need to go through all the general education requirements before 6/30 in order to take advantage of the study.com comprehensive tuition plan. That doesn't seem likely. What if I only go through the prerequisites for the courses of the CS/MATH AOS before 6/30 ? After that I'd be working full time on the 12 AOS courses from both CS/MATH in order to take full advantage of the comprehensive study.com tuition plan. I'd complete the general education credits after this full year of comprehensive tuition using study.com, saylor.org and straighterline for the general education requirements. Would that be a good idea (Open question to everyone)?

As far as the free electives, I am a (unemployed) Commercial Airplane pilot, so I have 8+8+9 = 25 credits because of my FAA certifications.

The real hard work would be to complete the 12 courses from the 2 AOS (MATH/CS) in 12 months. Am I right ? Smile

Yes, I enrolled a couple of hours ago and saw the final exam due date listed in the announcements section.  Shy

The main issue I think you're going to have is that you're going to have to take a LOT of credits from TESU in a single year, and you have to enroll by 6/30 for the study.com discount.  That means that you need to pass at least one course through Study.com (sooner rather than later), apply, get transcripts sent, and be ready to enroll by the deadline.  Then, you are going to have to carefully plan out your courses, so that you can get anything that has a prereq completed before moving on.  You will have to enroll in one course immediately, and decide how you're going to get through all of the courses in a year.  It will probably be tricky, and a difficult year to get through.

If you haven't already taken Calc I & II, I suggest you try to get those done ASAP so you're ready to go immediately on Day 1 when you enroll.

Is there a reason for us to believe that the study.com/tesu partnership offering of the comprehensive tuition plan at $6350 will not continue past 6/30 ?
If that is the case, and I'm not able to enroll by the deadline, does that imply I'll have to bank the 9820U$ for the out-of-state tuition ?

Also, does anyone know if I can enroll for a comprehensive tuition plan by 6/30 and have my annual tuition temporarely 'paused' or put on hold (I'm unsure of the exact term here), so that in the mean time I can get all the general education and prerequisites done and then 'start' my comprehensive tuition year ?
All of that just to take advantage of the study.com/tesu comprehensive tuition partnership at 6350U$ vs 9820U$ for out-of-state students.

Let me tell you what happened with the TESU/Study.com pricing when it started, and then you can decide.

When they first announced the partnership, TESU said they would give 10% off of the residency waiver, which was $2000 at the time.  So that would have been a $200 discount.  But instead of stating that, they stated that the residency waiver pricing will be $1800 ($2000-$200).  Then, they increased the residency waiver price to $2500 a few months later.  So, what would have been a 10% discount off of $2500 ($2250) turned into a 28% discount, since they had stated it as a price rather than a percentage off.  I'm imagining that TESU will be increasing the residency waiver at some point around 7/1 (normally when they do that type of change), and that they will be giving a percentage off of that new price, and it will be a LOT more than $1800.

Then, they also said that they would give in-state tuition pricing for both comprehensive and per-credit tuition plans.  Again, they stated a price rather than a %.  So, even after the tuition for both was raised, they had to stick to the stated discounted price.

So you decide - are they going to stick to a stated price, or this time around, are they going to say something like "10% off the current price" for the residency waiver.

And even if they say 10% off and in-state tuition pricing, the prices will likely go up, they do almost every year.

Regarding gen eds, you do not have to take those before you take your core/AOS courses. I would do as many as possible now, including Calc I & II which you will need before you can take some other math courses, and anything else that may be a prereq for other courses. But then on the first day of the term where you're starting the comprehensive tuition plan, I would say that you should stop your Gen Ed's (plan to be done already) and start your courses.

That will probably be the August term, since the July term will start on July 2nd, but you will have had to register for classes by mid-June. So assuming that you apply in late May, send an ACE transcript then, and then enroll in the comprehensive plan on June 26th (I would do it a few days early just in case some kind of glitch happens), you then will "start" your enrollment in Tesu in the August term, and should be finished by July of the following year. So be ready to go with your TESU courses by August 6th (I think), registering for them after you're enrolled on 6/30.

That gives you 6 full months from today to complete as many Gen Ed's as possible. I would enroll at Study.com now and get going! And start that Calc I class immediately as well.

@dfrecore

Thanks a bunch for providing me with a path to potentially make use of the discounted comprehensive tuition in partnership with study.com

I have googled my heart out in hopes to find anything regarding the affiliate program ending by 06/30/2018.

Do you have a link/reference where that is disclosed ? Either from TESU or study.com

Hey all,

I've come up with a reformulated plan. A bit more organized this time. Please don't make fun of my spreadsheet skills... Sad

Let me know what you think needs changing. 27 credits used from TESU in total.

BTW. Could I use 3 credits from the comprehensive tuition plan towards the capstone ??!?

Then the count gets to 30. Even so, I'd still have 6 credits left from the comprehensive tuition, which I'd use for Artifical Intelligence and Assembly Language just in case Computer Communications and Networks or Strategic Information Technology doesn't work out as CS AOS credit.

Also, Is the csuglobal CBE Systems Analysis and Design exam proctored online ? Being in Brazil, I'm hoping to take this exam in my jammies...
