Thanks  I will check that out. I noticed there is a study.com course to prepare for it. Would you recommend that or is there a better resource?

Study.com would be cheaper.

Their course is not an ACE- or NCCRS-approved one, just a UExcel Cultural Diversity test prep course.

This is an expensive exam ($355), with 3 "required" textbooks to read for it (seriously?) that are not cheap on their website (although you can find them for WAY less on Amazon as rentals).  You may be better off taking this elsewhere if you can find it.

Oops. I didn't check. That's a good reminder for the OP. Verify that a course is ACE or NCCRS-approved, especially at Study.com since they also create courses for the purpose of studying for exams and for high school students.

Yea $355 is a lot for the exam and if I fail it, I will lose the money. Not sure if this is really worth it. Maybe I could take it at a community college, or I may just need to suck it up and do it at Baker. Their classes are fairly easy as long as you set time aside to get them done, it would cost me $1170 though =/

I'm honestly just a little surprised that Straighterline or Study.com do not offer an option for such a basic course. Weird

Do you guys think my local community college would allow me to take one class there? The tuition is only $191 per credit so it would cost me about $500 to take it there.

I wonder if Baker would accept CSU Global CBEs. I'm not sure if Baker would accept intercultural communication or race, gender and ethnic relations in the U.S.

Yes, your local community college will allow you to take one class there?   Most CC's have 3x the students who only take one class vs a full-time CC students.  The key is to find out the system they use to apply/register/pay, etc.  You should apply ASAP to get a student ID number and log-in info.  Some take weeks?

Excelsior lets you pay a little extra in advance for a "free" retake.

You should also look at other JC's, since yours is pretty expensive (of course, I'm comparing to CA prices of $46/cr, so I'm not certain if yours charges higher than average). Also, your CC is probably on the semester system, meaning it's already started for fall, and you probably can't add a course. Other schools that have different types of systems, like self-paced or rolling starts might work better for you (and possibly be cheaper as well).

In Michigan, it's typical to need to get permission from your home school before you take a course elsewhere with the intent of transferring it back. Since Baker is based in Michigan, ask. If you need one, have them explain the whole procedure to you.

Hey All,

I just wanted to send an update that I finished all the courses at Baker for the accelerated BBA program. Now I just need to finish Study.com's Public Speaking class to meet the oral communication requirement (hoping they accept it, also going to finish Straighterline's Intro to Comms class as a backup. Also, need to send them updated ACE transcript with Intermediate Algebra in the hopes it transfers over as Algebra II (I was able to take this class before Aleks ended the ACE agreement).

I should have the Study.com class done this weekend and then going to send in the new ACE transcript. Wish me luck!

I will let you guys know what happens. Worst case scenario I may need to take another math class at Baker (hopefully not).

Since you're already doing Study.com, you might want to do College Algebra - that's normally considered the equivalent of Algebra I & II (sorta kinda). Intermediate Algebra may not cut it for that requirement.

It took many emails and reciting the manual to advisors before they would ask the Registrar what would be acceptable, but Baker informed my husband that ALEKS Intermediate Algebra transfers as MTH 111 (Introductory Algebra) which is now MTH 1110. He was required to fulfill the credits for MTH111 even though he was already awarded credit for MTH112. They were really pushing a waiver exam and CLEP exam beforehand. You may want to ask about their waiver or CLEP equivalencies.
