Does Straighterline Replace Failed Courses From Previous Colleges?

bjcheung77 Wrote:MandarinSalad, you're in LUCK! TESU doesn't take in F grades, only D grades for CREDIT and GPA, but it's OK if you have a D or more.
The main thing is, you get CREDIT for those D's and C- or C's. Your grades above it will balance it out... keep going with the credits!!

This makes no difference. TESU does not transfer in grades. A TESU GPA is only based on TESU courses. If you're applying to grad school, it won't make a difference if TESU accepted the transfer course or not since most grad programs want transcripts from all schools attended.

Do employers ask for all transcripts or is usually the degree sufficient

Most employers do not want all of the transcripts. For most law enforcement and corrections jobs, you will have to submit all of your transcripts as part of the background investigation.

So will graduate schools look at my gpa overall from both universities combined? My gpa at UNLV was 1.70(I was young and stupid), from with a total of 28 credits. My goal is to get my bachelors with a 2.80 GPA or higher.

Depends on the employer - most will probably want to see your transcripts from the school you got your degree from, but no one can tell you for sure.

Depends on the school, and their policy. Some schools don't care, some only look at the last 60 graded credits, some only look at the last 30 graded credits, some only look at the credits in your core, some only look at graded credits in the prerequisites for the program you're applying to.

This is one of those cases where you work backwards. If you know you want to go to a particular school for a master's degree, then you need to see what their policy is and work that into your plan. If you are more open to grad schools (less picky), then you don't have to be as worried.

And, by the way, I also have a 1.9 GPA from my first school in 88/89, but anywhere from a 3.0-4.0 in the intervening years until now. So if I wanted to go to a grad school that didn't take into account my history, and the fact that I did well later in life with my grades, then I would probably think they were too stupid to go to anyway, and look for another school with different policies. Or one with automatic acceptance.

I guess I did actually benefit from not going to school right out of high school as I feel like I would have had this issue as well. In High School I Averaged around a B but wasn't fully applying myself. I feel my same school ethic in College right outside of HS would have lead me to a 2.0GPA or lower. I'm happy to be sitting at 3.92 GPA at HVCC, a 3.0 at Oakton and I think its like 3.84 combined. I also have a 3.72 GPA in accounting only courses.

Anyways most school will see that you had those grades years ago and will want to look more at what you did recently. Most employers won't ask for anything accept the degree granting transcript so you probably don't have to worry there. However, I feel like what was said already would apply here to and any smart person can see the difference that you go lower grades when you were younger but way better grades as an adult.

On most transcripts, they apparently cannot see the dates you got those grades. In that case, a person might need to provide an additional transcript from the school where they did poorly? To show how old they were? Maybe the employer or grad school would take our word for it that the 1 school with low grades was a long time ago.

One thing at a time. Grad school is a lonnnggg way out at this point. Let's focus on the real issue: getting your undergraduate degree.

The big 3 will give you credit for transfer (not grades) for all your passing classes and some D's (I do believe they have some exclusions, but I'd have to look it up. I think you can't use a D if it's or English or maybe your major) anyway, it doesn't matter - send your transcript. They'll add everything you can use, and won't add the things you can't. Focus on finishing this degree, not your old grades and potential degrees in the future.

It is my opinion, that while expensive, you should take some courses at TESU so you can demonstrate good grades. IF an employer asks for a transcript, you'll have one with a GPA.
