TESU age requirenments
#1
I am considering TESU for my daughter instead of COSC. Their website states you need to be 21? I know a lot of homeschoolers consider TESU. Help!

My son applied to TESU and Excelsior (we settled on Excelsior). He just had to send a short letter to the TESU Dean asking for an exception. My son had already completed several CLEPs and DSSTs to show he could do college level work. Just a formality. Excelsior didn't care about the age.

Do I do that now or when she is ready to enroll in a year or so?

My niece is the same age as your daughter (11 - if I read that correctly in the previous thread).
She's going through homeschooling and will be compressing her studies (5 years into 4, etc).
Anyways, she's going to be applying to one of the Big 3 or Competency programs after she has 60 or so credits.

As she would like to have a Bachelors by the time she graduates High School (early at 16).
I recommended her to just continue the way she's at and finish all her HS/College credits.
When time comes, apply to any of the 3 and just complete the Capstone and remaining courses if any.

It was just part of the application process. It was the last step before the schools "acceptance"

This is for my 14 year old. She graduated HS this past week. She has now accumulated almost 50 credits. She is hoping to graduate college by 16. My 11 year old is on the same path.

My daughter who is a senior wrote to TESU this week and she was told that she could not apply to a degree program until she officially graduates high school or takes the GED. She will have to write another letter when she graduates and provide a final high school transcript along with unofficial transcripts from CLEP/ACE. She was also told that TESU wants underage applicants to have 30-40 credit hours with high grades in each course/exam.

Wondering how she graduated so early was it because you were homeschooling her

This is a simple process. During the application stage, your daughter will simply email the Dean of Admissions and state that she would like to attend TESU, that she has accumulated X amount of college credits, has graduated from high school, and is requesting an Age Waiver. To the email, attach unofficial copies of the transcripts of credits that she has earned. I sent screen shots of my ACE credits and Aleks accounts, and a copy of my Straighterline transcript, along with copies of my CLEP/DSST score sheets, and unofficial copies of my other college transcripts. I heard back within 24 hours. She should have more than 30 credits prior to requesting an age waiver; the more the merrier. Wink

Yes. She was homeschooled and was ready for HS Material at around 11. Her last year was almost all ACE approved courses.
