2. COM 2: SL/ CLEP English Composition II 3
3. SCI: Saylor Intro to Biology or SL Nutrition 3
4. MATH: Shmoop Algebra I and II (or ALEKS College Algebra) 3
5. SOC 1: Shmoop US History I 3
6: SOC 2: Shmoop US History II 3
7. COMP: TEEX Cybersecurity 6
8: ELEC 1: Shmoop Modern European History 3
9. ELEC 2: Shmoop (or ALEKS) Precalculus 3
10. ELEC 3: Saylor BUS 101 Intro to Business 3
11. ELEC 4: Saylor BUS 103 Intro to Financial Accounting 3
12. ELEC 5: Saylor BUS 203 Principles of Marketing 3
13. ELEC 6: Saylor BUS 205 Business Law and Ethics 3
14. ELEC 7: Saylor BUS 208 Corporate Communication 3
15. ELEC 8: Shmoop Finite Math 3
16. ELEC 9: Shmoop Lit or Math (or ALEKS Business Statistics) 3
17. ELEC 10: Shmoop Lit or Math 3
18. ELEC 11: Shmoop Lit or Math 3
19. ELEC 12: Shmoop Lit or Math 3

If you decide not to take the CLEP College Composition, you could just take SL English Composition I and use the Saylor Corporate Communication in place of English Comp II. Replace those 3 hours with another Saylor or Shmoop course.

Also, they are very flexible about what they will accept as long as it comes from an ACE transcript, so you could replace a course you don’t want to take with another one very easily. Just make sure you have the first 21 credits above completed.

You would need to apply for a waiver for the residency credits, but WVNCC seems very amenable to approving those waivers.

Shmoop is ~$90/ month for as many credits as you can take (no proctoring fees). Saylor is $25 per class for proctoring the final exam through ProctorU. You could replace those Saylor business courses with more from Shmoop, but then you wouldn’t have a concentration in business; rather you would just have an AAS in General Studies.

Anyone know what the grad fee or any other related fees are with this school? Will they take other free credits aside from TEEX (i.e. NFA, Institutes). Do they accept NCCRS?

Answered one of my own questions, they accept NCCRS

Offices and Services > Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) | WVNCC | West Virginia Northern Community College

Quote:Non-collegiate Sponsored Instruction (ACE, NCCRS, military training, etc.)

These recommendations are based upon the American Council on Education (ACE) and/or the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) evaluations of training and education programs. Credit recommendations are published for programs that have been evaluated as college-level. ACE provides credit recommendations for standardized military training and education programs that have been deemed equivalent and worthy of college credit.

I noticed in the other thread the poster mentioned all they paid was the graduation fee (and presumably an enrollment/app fee) but the college website doesn't show any graduation fees.

You can do an associates in about 2-4 months at any of the big 3 price is more a question of how you fill your requirements, but you're looking at about $2000- $4000 all in. In short, the difference is negligible.

My suggestion is to choose based on where you want your bachelor's BECAUSE you'll save steps if you don't have to reconfigure your general education credits from one school to the next. The big 3 differ slightly in their gen ed requirements (not hard/easy - rather chocolate/vanilla) so to make your transition perfect, stay at the same school for both (even if it's not your immediate goal).

Of course, you can always change - it just costs time and money.

These are the only fees that WVNCC lists. They do not appear to have a graduation fee, but surely you would need to pay the semester fees.
Capital Fee (per semester) $50
Administrative Fee (per semester) $50
Facility Fee (per semester) $80
Student Activity Fee (per year) $75
Information Technology Fee (per credit hour) $15

That would mean fees of $255 for the semester if you transferred all credits in.

For a general idea, here is how Board of Governors AAS credits transfer in to Excelsior.

I'm looking at this for a friend of mine, but some of his credits are quarter hour system. I wonder if they'd allow 8 qtr English credits (technically 5.33 sh) to satisfy the 6cr requirement. It'd be a bummer for him to have to take a whole extra 3cr to satisfy 0.67cr

The Saylor Corporate Communication or a speech class from his cc would fulfill that requirement too.

Yeah Saylor is what I'd recommend for him, but it'd be nice to just have it checked off. I guess the overage from Saylor would still count as electives so it's not a loss or anything.
