Any advice? I have no background in the subject and will start studying tonight for a test scheduled next week 5/11. I plan on using InstantCert as my only resource. I have taken and passed Dantes D&A abuse, Civil War as well as Clep HG&D and Intro to ED Psych. I felt Civil war was the toughest. How would Bus Law compare? Thanks...

I just took the test and got a 69 almost exclusively through instantcert. The questions that I did not have a clue on had to do with different acts/laws/cases that were not covered. I do not remember them but seem to remember that a bunch were in the Barrons Marketing Review book (one of the next tests I'm studying for...).
A lot of the questions revolved around the basics of contracts. What is a legal contract. Can a minor enter a contract etc. I would google each of the major topics just to see what is out there.
I bought a text book and tried to read through it but honestly fell asleep far too often.

I just wanted to say thanks to Steve for how he set up the CLEP Business Law section. The last two parts (cases) are really funny and keep things from getting boring. So "Jimmy bought his car at Shyster R US" eh. Steve, I hope nobody holds you responsible for product disparagement  on that one...hilarious

Hey christaKB, I'm curious how much study time you put in for Intro to Bus Law and if so any additional material you used. Also any feedback after your test on Sat would be great.
Good Luck!

Hey, I'll probably take the test on Monday or Tuesday, depending on when they'll let me take a long lunch at work (my Clep station doesn't allow for testing on Saturday).
Sofar, I have only studied Instantcert. I study the questions and while I study them, I write a summary in my notebook. I have probably about 10 pages of notes now that I'm finished. I study my notes and take the Instantcert again until I know about 80% of the anwers. I will also pick up Baron's Business Law book up from the library tomorrow and give it a quick study on terms used by Instantcert (usually those are the ones you want to focus on). After all that, I'll make sure I know the answers to the CLEP practice test (always good for at least one point somewhere).
Usually I also study the Peterson on line sample exams but unfortunately for these exam that doesn't exist, which leads me to believe the questions are the same most of the time.
Based on my previous experience you should be fine as long as you know the Instantcert material pretty well.
When are you taking your test?
Christa

I take it next Thurs 5/11. I plan on using InstantCert exclusively. I'll devote approx 4 hrs a day for the next week and see how it goes. I like the clep questions they seem to allow for some self applied logic and/or common sense.

Yeah, the writer for that particular subject had a sense of humor.

Let me know how you do. It turned out next week are finals at my local college and they won't let me CLEP test that week  They'll do anything to make things difficult for CLEP testers but of course that's because they don't make any money if you test out of the class:p
Please let me know how things go and if Instantcert alone will do the trick for you.
What is your next exam after this one? I have the joy of Dantes Statistics to study for next. I also have a German Clep scheduled but for me that should be a little refreshing of grammar, nothing more.
Good luck!
Christa
