TESU graduation timeline / My "I'm done" thread
#1
My last exam for my last PF course was graded today and is already on my ACE transcript. I sent the transcript to TESU and applied for March graduation today. I also emailed advising to ask them explicitly to look everything over, and let me know how and when I need to pay the residency waiver fee.

Looking @ Graduation , it seems there are a few steps that take place before Graduation.

Quote:To be considered for graduation, all academic requirements and financial obligations must have been met by the first day of the month two months prior to the graduation date. The official graduation months are March, June, September and December. Once the application and fee have been received and the Office of the Registrar has certified that all degree requirements and financial obligations have been met, the Office of the Registrar sends two official letters of degree certification to each graduate and degree seeking candidates’ names are presented to the Thomas Edison State University Board of Trustees for formal approval. Upon approval by the Board of Trustees, graduates receive written confirmation from the Office of the Registrar that the degree was conferred. Diplomas are ordered for each individual graduate and are mailed to graduates within two weeks of the graduation date.

Can anyone who has graduated from TESU tell me how the timeline looks from the time you submit your application? I'm assuming right now it'll be another 25 days for my last transcript to be evaluated. After that, how long does it typically take for those letters to be sent out for both the "degree certification" and the "written confirmation"? Am I likely to have those in January, or do they tend to arrive closer to the official graduation date?

Feels good to be done, regardless!

The procedure is that they will audit your credits about 2 months before graduation. If you don't have everything, they will notify you of the discrepancies and schedule a second audit the next month. People that are close to the wire can work with the graduation folks to expedite review of transferred credits or completed courses.

Since you have everything in, you'll likely pass that first audit. I'm not sure about the timing of paying the residency fee. You could probably wait until the first audit, and then pay it when they tell you that you don't meet residency., or you could pay it just before that audit.

I am aware of this part, really I am just curious about when to expect the two different letters that are sent out prior to the diploma.

FYI advising replied to my ticket and said to pay the waiver *now* or my application will be rejected and that I should have paid it before applying, so I just took care of that. My wallet hurts.

...
You get one when you pass the audit telling you that you are all set for graduation. You get another at the beginning of the month of graduation (the 10th?) with a transcript and a couple of official letters that can used to demonstrate that you've graduated while you're waiting for your real diploma.

hilarious Congrats! That's great news! Can you please update your wikia page with your BSBA courses?
Something along the lines to help individuals who are still "planning" or completing their studies.
Or update this thread with a spreadsheet of your courses. Thanks! congrats again on the achievement!

You bet, I'll do both later this afternoon. I have an ODS (libreoffice/openoffice format) spreadsheet I've been using that some may find useful. It colors rows differently depending on status (I used it to track what was 'done', what was on ACE transcript, and what was on the last ACE transcript i sent to TESU) and auto-sums the # of credits from SL so that I could be careful to not go over the 90cr limit. Big Grin

Awesome, congratulations!!!

I'm hoping to be in your (March) graduating class as well, but am currently enrolled in the Capstone, and just signed up for another month of study.com to take one or two last courses I wanted to have on my transcript. So I guess I'll wait until Jan 1st to apply and pay the grad fees then Smile

Best of luck! I don't know if I'd wait until the day of the deadline, but you still have all of this month to complete those last few courses. Good luck on that Capstone, everything I've read says that paper is a real pain in the neck. I'm very glad I was able to barely dodge that bullet with the PF course. A friend of mine didn't make it and is studying for the TECEP since a few people here said it's not that terrible.
