Ok, so I'm pretty new to CLEPing (and to IC as well) and I had a few questions about the process. I'm working on my basic "general education" credits for a history degree from TESC. I've only taken two tests so far, English Comp and US History 1, and did well on both of them. History 2 will be next.
I've had a hard time balancing school, work, and life, so I was planning on taking a month off soon and dropping everything possible so I can focus on school. I'm hoping in that month to pass a test every week. Is that a reasonable goal while still working part-time? Is it possible to get more than one test a week done? Are there any particularly quick and/or easy classes y'all would recommend for this?
I'm pretty green, so any thoughts, recommendations or words of wisdom would be wonderful!

I think that is definitely possible, Jubilee. Lately I've been doing 2-3 tests at a time, 5 weeks apart. Keep in mind though, that some of these were very difficult tests and I am working full time and not "dropping" any of my other responsibilities while doing this.
The best advice I can give you is to make sure your test-taking skills are up to snuff. The most credit-efficient way to do that is probably to take Educational Psychology first--it will introduce you to some methods of learning and studying that you might not currently be taking advantage of. As for "easy" I recommend Marketing, Management and HG&D.

Also, there's a book out there called "Up Your Score." Current edition's ISBN is 0761143076. I used the 2000 edition to learn a really lot about good test-taking skills before I took the SAT. Assuming that it hasn't changed too much, I highly recommend it! It will teach you how to guess effectively, how to use the wording of the question to rule out answers (even when you have no idea what they mean), etc. Collegeboard does both the SAT and the CLEP tests. These skills do apply.

Check out my sig to see what I've done starting on October 8. I'm working on some Dantes exams now, but I have to wait 3 weeks or so for test results. I took Dantes Statistics on 11/08, and today took 3 Dantes exams: Finance, Ethics, and Supervision.
1 exam a week is definitely doable. I'm also currently enrolled in Managerial Accounting and Information Literacy at LSU Independent study, as well as working a full time as a mortgage consultant for a major bank (today was Veteran's Day, so I had an off day and took 3 exams).

Another thing, is that the more CLEPs you take, the more you will start to notice that there are some questions that appear on everything. For example, I think there has been at least one question about WEB Dubois on every social science exam I took (psychology, sociology, educational psych, social science and history, us history 1, us history 2 - I am sure he is on the others I didn't take too) You'll just start to see a lot of repetition. Maybe only 1-3 questions, but these are "gimmies" after a while, and every point counts.

For anyone who cares- the stress and tension class is torture. I hate every moment that I have to read a word from the book or discuss the hippy-dippy topics with my argumentative mentor who has absurd posting requirements. Ok, back to the thread!
