TESU: Testing out/transferring of Criminal Justice Requirements

Hello all,

I wanted to share my take at a spreadsheet table for criminal justice requirements (at TESU) with everyone. Does it appear that the required courses I've listed line up correctly with their transfer/test? You will also notice 3 courses that I'm looking to fill. Any suggestions? I know in this thread siege101 was hoping CSU courses would work, although I've never looked into CSU and it appears that we do not know if they work yet.

for "Research Methods in Social Sciences," you should ask if Study.com or UExcel's (or even TorCC's) "Research Methods in Psychology" will work, or if it needs to be broader and specifically "Social Sciences." I would assume research methods in psych would work fine, but definitely check with an advisor. If you choose Study.com, you could also do their Intro to CJ and complete both in one month so you save some money.

As far as your note in CJ electives about FEMA, TESU no longer accepts FEMA credits (not to be confused with TEEX credits, which is a partnership with FEMA. TEEX would not be accepted as CJ electives anyway, only free electives).

I'm under an older catalog. I also have research methods as a requirement and research in psych was placed on my academic eval as satisfying the requirement (It was preplanned, I have not actually taken the course yet, was looking at taking it through study.com). For criminological theory I believe Victimology should work. The DSST Intro to Law Enforcement used to duplicate intro to Criminal Justice, but not sure how it is transferring after the changes. Juvenile Delinquency will work as an elective and is available though Excelisor credit by exam but have to use Pearson test center, it is a little cheaper then some of the other options. The DSST criminal justice exam used to transfer in as 6 credits (3 credits satisfying the criminal justice admin requirement, and the other 3 credits as CJ elective).

Oh yeah, good call. When I do this, Study.com's "Research Methods in Psychology" counts for "Research Methods in the Social Sciences" in the newest catalog, just as swalke321 confirmed with the older catalog.

And contrary to what I said above about TEEX, their Cyber Security for Business Professionals course counted as 2cr for CJ electives (transferring as CIS-244 Computer Security). The other two TEEX courses did not count.

Edit: Didn't realize the elective section had only 3 credits. DSST cybersecurity works. Can't comment about TEEX since the DSST populated the elective spot.

I think they are speaking of their academic evaluation. You can look at your specific degree plan with transferred credits, or you can select in a drop down a "what if" plan for other majors.

Ah ok. I haven't applied yet so I don't think I have that option. My plan is to knock out the Gen ed stuff first and just save it with ACE. Once I'm ready, I'll then apply and make sure the CJ courses fit before purchasing them.

Also to clarify, would Propero's Juvenile Justice go as American Juvenile Justice System or as Juvenile Delinquency

No, you won't have the option until you enroll.

I would wait to post your spreadsheet until you have all of your courses pre-approved by TESU. You don't want to post something and then later find out that TESU won't accept something that you thought they would.

Regarding the Public Policy course, you could see if CSU-Global's Law Enforcement & American Policing will fit (not sure if that will duplicate the Law Enforcement course instead).

And, finally, I would take the CJ DSST exam as it's 6cr, and the Intro to Law Enforcement DSST as it's UL. Those are supposed to be easier courses as well.
