they used to have this back in our gym in high school

if I could find a gym with this I would join in a second
unfortunately, I can't find a gym anywhere that has one --- and I live in a fairly large city
(probably an insurance thing)
if I had my own house I would build one of these, but I rent an apartment, so no go

You guys have me motivated, so I'm going to the gym today. Will try to break some personal records for you guys TimHead, you train like a prize fighter.
I ran 3 miles in 24 minutes and then headed right over to the strength training while my heart rate was already up. I am going to stick with this routine. It seems most efficient.

I've always hated gym exercise. However in a former life (before I got ill) I was a Police Officer and so of course needed to be fit. So I did it the most efficient way I could. Running 3 times a week on the treadmill, 5km each run, adding in at least 4 lots of 1 min sprints, as fast as I could manage to make it challenging. Once a week I'd add in cycling for 20 minutes including at least 4x 1 min sprints with the difficulty turned right up, going as fast as possible. Once a week weight training. Once a week Krav Maga for self defence training rather than fitness.
I was seriously fit and only spent 2.5 hours exercising per week (excluding the Krav Maga). Basically my advice is if you're not someone who loves to exercise go with intensive rather than endurance. Have a google on High Intensity Interval Training to see what would work for you

I am actually starting to notice a trend as a personal trainer. More women want to lift barbells and kettlebells and master bodyweight movemnets like pullups, than ever before... makes my pocketbook happy! Conversely, I find more men want to shy away from it and are very into endurance type activities. I find it very interesting. It's not rare that I can outlift men and outpullup them as well. Not like I am 20 something either. I am in my 40's. I just find as I get to my 40's...my same peers my age(not just females but males) cannot keep up strengthwise. Then again, they could probably outrun me.

Depends..what is the typical waist size of people on American Ninja Warrior?
On a side note.. I did a parkour class at my gym...which was VERY fun..I got to leap over things, jump, crawl...etc. Things I did as a kid. Now they are charging for it. Luckily since I work for the gym, I took the class for free.

I am getting older, the body ain't as good as it used to be and I need to get my butt outta the chair.
Thinking of joining a gym, but it's a bit farther than I would like.
Was thinking of just jogging or brisk walking at the nearest park.
The best choice is the one you'll do with consistency.
