New TESU Residency Requirement!!! 16cr, TECEP's do not count?!?

I think asking anyone here for answers to this is pretty futile right now, as not even TESU is giving prompt (or consistent) answers to all of this. Best case is you're fine, but I doubt that's how it'll pan out. Worst case, you'll be screwed pretty heavily and TECEPs you've already taken will no longer count towards residency. I think the most likely case is the one in between: When you took the TECEPs is what will matter, not when you paid for them, and the 6 credits remaining for you to meet residency will have to be done as courses or you'll have to pay for the waiver.

What's now the cheapest way to enroll if one has already been accepted? In the past, it was by taking a TECEP, would a 1-credit course now fit that bill? Or registering and paying for capstone?

And how many credits does one need to have to register for the capstone? I have about 78, 64 of which are UL and graduate level.

All advice is appreciated...thanks in advance and Happy Easter

Quick TECEP-related residency question. How do they show on the evaluation, as far as notes, term, and TESU #?

I ask because I called the advisors (don't remember who I talked to) and they said that since TECEPs are considered TESU credit with a term, and as long as they don't have anything listed under 'Notes', they should still count, since the screenshot they use to show what counts as TESU credit is still the same one from before they gained university status. Not entirely sure how much I trust the advisors, so I want to check if the logic seems sound to you guys.

I checked mine, but I've got a trouble ticket in now because my TECEPs disappeared.

I'm on the 2015 catalog, which looks a little different than the 2016 catalog eval.

My individual courses look like this:

ENC-102 (Writing Intensive) (Completed) Src Course # Title S.H. Grd TESU # Notes 2..
ENC-102... English Composition II... 3.00 CR

And the residency info shows up at the bottom like this:

The courses listed below are your Thomas Edison State Universitycourses that satisfy your residency requirement. These courses arealso listed separately in the area of your evaluation where they fulfill degree requirements.

I was planning on finishing all my DSST/CLEP exams and then enrolling at TESU for 2 last courses plus the capstone. Do you have to wait to finish all the DSST/CLEP exams before enrolling or being accepted? If not, how long do you have to finish courses at TESU? I can try to overlap and would love to avoid the new cornerstone class. But I'm assuming they can not evaluate credits I haven't tested for yet, so I'm assuming I will have to wait until I'm finished with the CBE's first. Any thoughts? This is so frustrating.

Also, does the new cornerstone course count as a credit? It seems odd that they are requiting 16 credits, which isn't divisible by 3 (meaning you'd actually have to take 18 credits).

No, you don't have to wait. You can take credits wherever you want, and transfer them in as you go, and take courses/TECEP's at TESU as well.

Since there is no enrollment fee at TESU, it doesn't hurt to apply and lock in a catalog. BUT, if you don't take a course/TECEP within the first 6 months, then you are no longer enrolled and would have to apply again. So you need to be ready to take something fairly quickly once you enroll. After that, you have a year from the last course/TECEP to take another course. That continues on indefinitely.

And they can only do an eval based on what you send in. But you can send in all DSST/CLEP's as you take them for free once you are enrolled, so it wouldn't be an issue.

Yes, the new cornerstone counts; so it would be the cornerstone plus 5 courses. I know no one wants to do the cornerstone, but it is certainly a cheaper way to get that extra credit than paying for a 1-cr course (it's $300, a 1-cr course is $499).

If you aren't going to do 5 courses at TESU in the first place, then just plan to pay the $2000 residency waiver.

Need clarification... so, if the Residency Waiver fee is paid, no TECEP’s or TESU courses are required for residency purposes at all? Only the TECEP’s needed to fulfill degree requirements?
