Failing a TECEP
#1
Hi!
Searched here keywords "TECEP fail".

If you are only interested in Thomas Edison to rack up a few TECEPS on a transcript (or however you wind up getting those credits out), and you fail one, and don't retake it, does that *have* to go on the transcript?

I guess, in other words, can you simply transfer what you want?

Thanks!

Found here: http://www.tesu.edu/degree-completion/Ea...credit.cfm.

Quote:An official transcript will not show a numeric score, a letter grade, an NC or NT grade, only exams successfully completed and the number of credits earned.

So "Not Taken" / "No Credit" exams won't show up on the official transcript.

Editing to add that I was mistaken about how the TECEPs show up:

this thread has some info at post #2

http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...post193948

ORIGINAL POST: If the question is can you get a self-selected transcript from a school, I think the answer is a solid no from any school. That's sort of the point of a transcript is that it's a record of your performance (not a curated version of it). Someone else might have other info for you, though.

I would like to graduate with a decent gpa. Why, I don't know.

I am estimating what damage just going into some TECEP type credits would potentially do to that.

Sorry, I'm poor at articulating. If I can go skim some stuff, and win, I would prefer that than to read and retain a couple of expensive books per TECEP. But, if I have to give whoever I wind up enrolling with a transcript full of fails (maybe there are some things I just can't pass? I don't know what I don't know), I would be more reticent to just giving it the ol' college try.

That make any sense? Big Grin

No grade is recorded, just that you passed. If you fail, no one will ever know, you'll just be out the cash.

TESU only records "CR" on official trascripts for successfully completed TECEPs, nothing otherwise.

Yes, that makes complete sense. The time you spend getting a 100% could be much better utilized cramming for another test or class. If I take a B&M class on P/NP (CR or NC), I would not want an NP or NC, nor would I want to rent or buy extra books. But the TECEP is safe to fail.

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing. So, what happens if the TECEP (being taken for residency purposes) bumped transferred B&M credits (with good grades) down and they are now "0.00 *RP*TE", and then the TECEP is taken and failed?

I really don't plan on failing any of the TECEPs, but all 5 that I am registered for are for courses I've taken as B&M and transferred in -- if I fail, I get "NC", but does it reestablish my original grades which were made to be 0.00 when I enrolled in the TECEPs, and make me replace the now obsolete course with something new??

Is anyone with firsthand experience with this scenario willing to chime in?

You can just email academic advising and ask them to move the course back up if you fail a TECEP. Not a big deal at all.
