#1
Ok, so currently I am enrolled in a community college. Classes are not that hard and I got plenty of time to attend them. The issue that I have is that it is taking toooooooo long to get my degree.
I am currently in the military so I can take CLEP exams for free. I am fluent in Spanish so I was think about taking that as my first CLEP exam and get a feel for how everything works.
I am trying to get an associate degree as soon as possible and later work on a bachelor.
At this moment I am not looking at any degree in particular as my goal is to get something under my belt for promotional purpose.
Help from anyone will be greatly appreciated.

You must have passed through Florida! Smile

For Charter Oak you probably only need to complete the general education courses for an AA/AS. You need several like social science, ethics, and 7 credits of science including at least one with a lab. All are pretty straightforward, of prloko doesn't beat me to it, I'll try to put a plan up for you tomorrow. Headed to bed now....
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Balurgo,

If you speak fluent Spanish take the CLEP. That will give you 6 LL credits. I am an ex Navy Nuke and I had plenty of LL credits. You need to review the DSST exams as they offer a lot of UL courses. I found that for me Excelsior college was the best bet money wise and ease of fit. I don't know if you will gain any advantage from getting an associates degree (Maybe promotion points) If you do get promotion points then you are not far from an AA or AS. It takes me about 4 days to read the study material and take and pass a CLEP or DSST. You need to study exactly what the tests say you need to know. I basically tested out of my BS Liberal Arts at Excelsior (Just Finished). I did have to take the Capstone which will take up 8 hours a day for 8 weeks. You should not just take tests and see where they fall. I did that and I ended up with 180 credits and many did not fit in any degree scheme. You should pick a school and a degree program and work toward that specific goal don't freelance it. I went through what you are going through and wasted a lot of time and money. In the end I waited until the degrees were much harder and I had to do it the Excelsior way and not mine. My advice is look at Thomas Edison State College and Excelsior. The BS Liberal Arts seems to be the easiest for all.

What I'm having a hard time figuring out is how do I know what clep or dsst to take.
For example for a tesc associate in art I would need to complete 6 credits in written communication. How do I know if the classes that I already have fit under that? And if they don't what clep or dsst is it?
Is there a guide showing this is equal as this or take this to fill that?
From this from my cellphone so I'm sorry for any mistakes

*how* fluent in Spanish are you? You can earn 6 or 9 via CLEP - 6 for a minimum passing score, 9 for a higher score. You can earn 16 credits at TESC for passing the NYU Foreign Language exam (cost $400 in that case you're testing to save time instead of money). Exam Options and Results

I know you didn't mention wanting to change schools (I love your plan BTW, and I'm sure TA is paying- so you're really being smart right now) but TESC is also a military friendly college and will allow you to test out of your remaining credits. If you can do that with CLEP or DSST, your costs would be minimal. In addition, you could take classes, since their tuition falls under the TA cap amount. Really, I can't say what would work best. I mean you can go slower and free or faster and pay a bit, that's really for you to decide.

Could you guys help me in creating a chat for an associate or bachelor in liberal arts for the big 3 universities using my current credit?
Thank you

Stupid phone. I meant chart not chat

If they are free, just start taking the ones that you'll need for any degree. Then you can enroll at one of the big three schools and find out what you need to graduate. The nice thing is that DSST has many upper level tests!

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

I can help with TESC, but not the other two. The only issue I see is that we don't know what some of these courses will transfer as. But as best I can tell, you need the following:

Section A
English Comp I & II - DONE
Speech - DONE
College Algebra - DONE
NEED World Religions DSST (to fulfill Info Lit)

Section B
NEED Sociology CLEP (to fulfill Diversity)
NEED Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct (to fulfill Ethics)
NEED American Government (to fulfill Civic Engagement)

Section C
Intro to CJ - DONE
Intro to Corrections - DONE
Criminal Procedures - DONE
Microeconomics - DONE

Section D
Intro to Computers - DONE
NEED Any science or computer CLEP or DSST

Assuming that your other courses will all fit under General Ed Electives (Int Algebra, Criminal Law, Maritime Law, Security Ops, Crime Prevention, Homeland Security, Org Leadership, Risk Management, Swimming, Health, & Seamanship), that's it. 4 Exams (free for Military) and 1 free online ethics exam and you are good to go.

Your second Criminal Justice course will probably not get credits since it's the same name as a course you already have listed.

Here's the link to the free ethics course: Preserve the trust on which insurance transactions are based with an understanding of ethics

Hope that helps. I'm sure someone else can help with Excelsior and COSC.
