Failed CLEP
#1
So I failed my first ever CLEP, American Government. 48,ugh. Used IC, free CLEP prep, and the Cliffs notes Book that I read on KINDLE. Spent about two weeks preparing, however hardly nothing I studied was on the test. Disappointing, but not any of the prep materials fault. Mainly was working of stuff I believed that kept me from passing.

So what now for the TESC, Government class? SL? How does SL and TESC as I read they don't actually take the class directly from SL. Do you have to sent the SL class off to ACE or what? Also, any other options for this? I could do AMU and probably get an easy pass, but that's 750 as compared to a free CLEP or 130 or so for the SL.

You would take the class directly at SL. They can send your transcript to TESC and/or ACE. I would just send it to TESC directly if I were you.
Currently studying for: Still deciding.

Sorry to hear about the disappointing test result.

Also, sorry to hear that you got that result using those materials as that is pretty much what my sons just started using yesterday to prepare for this exam. When you say you used IC, do you mean the official IC flashcards or specific exam feedback from other users or both sources? TIA

Wombat, I used the IC flashcards that were provided. I did glance over the feedback provided, but didn't pay much attention to it. I had exactly 1 question on the Constitution, which was worded crazy, 1 question from the Supreme Court cases, and I think 2 questions regarding the Amendments. I had one easy question about Bill of Rights. As for the rest, it is all a blur. Two tables questions, that I remember. Lots of stuff how Democrat and Republics and how they are different and etc. Seems like basic knowledge, but like I said the wording I think threw me off more than anything. Seems like most of the stuff from my test was in depth, and what I studied was basic knowledge. I do feel like I have learned a lot using the study materials, however none of that translated to the test.

I will still take more Clep test, I need to knock out something for my Social Science requirement for the CCAF and this was just one option. I will use SL for the American Government credit I need and hopefully will have better luck with it. I will also continue to use the IC, Free Clep Prep and Cliff note materials. I guess today just wasn't my day.

Also, for rose that have went to grad school using CLEP, does the failed CLEP show up in either the TESC or CLEP transcript? I feel like an idiot, but know I need to get past this to finish a degree.

I don't think TESC transcribes CLEP unless you meet their minimum score requirements. I scored too low on several AP exams and TESC did not record them just the one I passed. I find credit by exam to be difficult mostly because you are not really sure what to study.

Learn from it, let it go, and move on to the next thing on your list. We ALL had some type of bump in the road along the way.

Thanks for info on SL. I'm kind of on the fence about it now. How does SL look for potential grad school. I also just read a horror story about someone who took 6 hours of Accounting from SL for a Federal Job and SL wouldn't send a transcript. Of course I'd be sending mine to TESC, but wondering how all these ACE credits eventually show up when Federal jobs any transcripts for education purposes of SL isn't an actual school.

I think majority of users on this forum have some sort of SL credits and have gotten into grad school. Plus grad school won't want a copy of your SL transcript as it isn't an actual class. For the Feds an ACE transcript should work.
