There was more than just a change in terminology. The new general education requirements are more like the original ones TESC had. TESC used to have specific general education requirements that forced you to complete a certain number of natural science/mathematics credits. When they changed to the requirements they had in the last catalog, one could get away with just taking a math course and didn't have to take any more science or math courses for most degree programs. These new gen ed requirements are better in some ways because they are more aligned with traditional gen ed requirements; the terminology they use is just stupid and unnecessary. They should go back to using what people understand: humanities, social science, mathematics, and natural science.
Excelsior's information literacy is not some full-blown research course; it's just a junk course that's 1 credit and can be completed in a few hours. They still accept the course from Penn Foster, LSU, and now Torah College Credits.

It looks like the website is being updated very slowly. I was browsing the BA CJ plan. It looks like the 2015-2016 year has some drastic changes in the AOS. It looks like some of the degree plans are starting to update as well. It is all kind of confusing. But it looks like there are a lot of changes coming.

As someone who's pursuing a BSBA at TESC and has 50-60 credits left to test out of, should I apply now? On one hand, these changes don't seem major (more related to "label" than anything), but on the other hand, we still don't have that much info yet. Who knows what else might change. Would it be prudent for me to just apply and work with the plan that already exists?

If you apply now, you lock in this catalog. If you find out later you like the catalog changes, you can always request to be placed under the new catalog.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Thank you. I wasn't aware of being able to request being placed under the later catalog. Looks like the decision is clear. I'm applying as we speak.

You hit the nail on the head!:hurray: Excelsior College is not as progressive as Regents and neither was a progressive and forward thinking as the original big 3 aka USNY. All the big "3" seem to be going regressive. The Educational-Government complex is all about conformist education.banghead
