Using credits from one undergrad degree to apply to another undergrad

I am currently a BA Social Science major at TESC and I will graduate in June. I am only probably 4 courses/exams short of earning a BA Psychology from COSC. Can I use many of the same credits from my TESC BA social science studies and apply them to get the second degree from COSC? I know it is double dipping but I would much rather have a BA Psychology, but on the other hand I really need to graduate by June.

Second Baccalaureate Candidates

Students who have received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university may matriculate in Charter Oak State College to pursue a second bachelor's degree, but not an associate degree, with the permission of the Director of Admissions, Lori Gagne Pendleton (lpendleton@charteroak.edu). The second degree must be in a different field of study from the first one. Students seeking admission under this program must submit a letter to the Director of Admissions discussing the rationale for pursuing the second degree prior to completing the application.

To earn a second baccalaureate degree a student must:

earn a minimum of 30 semester credits subsequent to the award of the initial degree
earn at least 15 of the subsequent credits at the upper level in the new Concentration
meet all distributive requirements
apply no more than 9 credits from the previous degree earned toward the new Concentration

Persons holding a Master of Arts or Master of Science or an earned doctorate must also request approval in writing from the Director of Admissions before applying for a bachelor's degree program.
Concurrent Degree Policy

A student cannot concurrently earn a degree using substantially the same courses at two different institutions. Prior to completing the application, the student must seek approval from the Director of Admissions. The request for approval must include the field of study of the degree being sought at each institution and the courses to be included. The student must demonstrate that s/he will be taking at least 30 credits that are not in the other degree program. The 30 credits must be in the concentration and a minimum of 15-18 must be at the upper level.

Thanks Andy, that was clear and concise. I think instead of focusing on a second bachelors I am going to begin preparing for my masters degree. Now that opens an entirely new set of questions. I wish there was some way to start on my masters degree coursework while having not officially graduated. The only course I am taking now is the Liberal Arts Capstone, after heavy studying and coursework last semester (66 semester hours total) I am bored!!

Can't you just transfer your credits in before applying for graduation? That way COSC doesn't ding you for another 30 credits.

Your transcripts will state that you are enrolled in a degree program at another school and cosc will tell you that you can’t enroll in a 2nd degree program without approval.

I just looked at my my wife's transcript. It doesn't say that she's pursuing a major at NSC. Also she was enrolled at both COSC and Nevada State with declared majors in both schools and neither of them said anything. She even transferred in credits as she was completing them at NSC to COSC. I'd say give it a shot, worst case scenario they say no. Now the pending capstone on the transcript could be an issue. I really don't think COSC looks into this that diligently.

I was enrolled at excelsior before I transferred to cosc. The first email the registrar’s office sent stated that I could not enroll in a cosc BS/BA program until I either left the excelsior degree program or received approval for a 2nd BS/BA degree. That was a couple of years ago so who knows.

LOL. Okay. This is completely wrong. And bad. Bad-wrong. Actually, saying "no" would be the best case scenario.

Look closely at allllllll the words in the catalog you enrolled under.
