Hi all! Been working on this degree for a few years now, and I'm getting close! I'd like to post my TESC History degree plan. If you could, leave a comment with any advice you have about finishing up.

GRADUATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

A BIG question I have:

I started this degree with CollegePlus, then ditched them halfway through but kept the degree plan they laid out for me. The plan I'm on right now has me filling in a remaining history elective with the BYU course Italian Renaissance. I haven't seen anyone else need to take this though. Is it not necessary? And if not, what should I replace it with? Thank you SOOO much in advance!!!!

Also, to let you know, I've failed DSST Law Enforcement and DSST Computing in the last 6 months, so I can't take them.

Also, I took the CollegePlus Worldviews course before leaving CP. Can that class apply to this plan?

Also, I am looking to do this a quickly as possible. I need to graduate in May, so I know I have my work cut out for me.

For general education requirements, since you already have 6 ALEKS hours from College Algebra and Stats, you could also complete Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry for 6 more hours, then just do the CLEP Social Science and History for the other 6 hours. The Worldviews class should also count as a General Ed or free elective.

As for free electives, you could complete those 12 hours by using no-cost classes on an ACE transcript: Kaplan PLA for 3, NFA for 3, and TEEX Cybersecurity series for 6.

To fulfill the History major, you could take the credits you have mapped out, as well as Penn Foster History of Labor in the US (HIS-315) or the Ohio University credit by exam for Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.

I keep thinking about this, so I will share. If you move a few of your credits around, you will have a BA in Social Science without needing to take the ECE or BYU credits (Please note: Not suggesting, just sharing).

First off, you are an amazing human being! So if I understand you correctly, I could take the credits I have now along with the soon to be completed Capstone course, add a 6cr Gen Ed elective, a Psych CLEP and DSST, and the three free courses and that would complete a BA in Social Sciences from TESC? If this is true, I am beyond stoked, as I am only seeking a bachelor's degree to jumpstart my career in the military. I really appreciate your willingness to help out a fellow student.

Yes, just take the classes and tests listed above. You would also need ALEKS Intermediate Algebra or any other general ed elective. Also, the TEEX Cybersecurity series is actually 3 different classes for 2 hours each, but they don't cost anything. Look on the wiki info about all of those. Just FYI, DSST is retiring Modern Middle East, and according to this post, possibly Soviet Union too.

Thanks, Westerner! I thought about that too, but the OP had already taken them and TESC will accept the credits, so it should be good to go. It's a shame that DSST is retiring those tests....

Yeah I saw that yesterday and it freaked me out for a second! Glad I took them already though!

KayV, I have another question if you don't mind. It shouldn't be a problem that I have already taken my Capstone course with a history major in mind, should it? You would think that as long as I took the Capstone course, the subject material shouldn't matter, really. I just wanted to make sure I have all my bases covered before applying for a major change.
