New to Credit by Exam

May be time to switch...

I was told it's just the $75 application fee, and then the cost of a class or TECEP during the year by the advisor I've been in contact with. That may or may not apply in your case, as I'm talking to the military office, but it looks like it's mostly the same when I checked out the per-credit tuition info, maybe a $125 technology services fee.

Fees: Thomas Edison State College: Fees

Per Credit Plan: Per Credit Tuition Plan

For the Per Credit tuition plan, there is no Technology Services Fee. The fees for this plan are as follows (out-of-state tuition):

Application Fee ~ $75
TECEP ~ $37/credit
Course Fee ~ $491/credit
Course Registration Fee ~ $58
Transcript Fee ~ $15

Just so that no one gets confused, the bold part should be $37/credit making it $111 for 3 credits.

A psychology degree at TESC would be faster to complete than at Excelsior. At EC you will need 30 UL credits. However, a psychology degree at EC can be tested out of almost completely, however, you will need to complete these professional courses at Excelsior.

1. Information Literacy (Maybe you can take this elsewhere, and transfer in)
2. Abnormal Psychology (Can test out or enroll in course)
3. Biopsychology
4. History and Systems
5. Capstone

---------

Previously, most people would complete the requirement of their psychology degree with other sources, and complete Abnormal Psychology, Biopsychology, History and Systems, and the Capstone at EC; however, they are now requiring Information Literacy.

If you enrolled with the Multi-source option, you "only" need $495 for the Student Service Annual Fee to keep your enrollment current and extend it for another year.

I forgot that they require some psychology courses for which there are no tests.

Thanks everyone for their feedback.

Today, I completed my first CLEP exam (A&IL). My score was 70. It was nerve-racking because of my time concerns. At the end, I ran short on time and literally guessed at the last handful of questions. Overall, I'm very elated with the results and take this as confirmation that this is my road for the next 10mos. Move over complacency, BA - here I come!
