I would like feedback from anyone that has taken these tests. I have never taken a TECEP before and am wondering if all I really need to do is review one of the recommended texts and go ahead with the exam. I would also like to know which books successful testers used for either the Technical Writing or Marriage and Family. It seems the Marriage and Family would be fairly common sense and I've read a post that pretty much reinforced that, but I don't think it would be wise to take an exam without some way studying first.
Any advice is welcome!

I am thinking about taking this TECEP as well. I am going to use this
syllabus_SOC-210-jan12 as the basis of my studies. Have you taken any other TECEPS before? How much do they cost?

Though I have not taken a TECEP before, I would strongly suggest studying something other than the syllabus. If you take it cold and pass, more power to you. If you take it cold and fail.... well you just wasted some cash. At least google the subject to find cheap to free study resources.

My one TECEP experience taught me that I should read the required text.

I have only taken 2 TECPEs, Technical Writing and English Comp. But what I can tell you for certain is, take the online version. I was shocked at how bad my hand began to hurt during the paper test. To add to the pain, I took them back to back. I won't lie, I didn't crack a single book and passed both. However, I assume that is because I followed the basic rules or writing when it came to the English Comp and for the Technical Writing I just pretended like I was at work. At this point in my career I live at a desk sending emails and giving instructions. So, if you are familiar with those things you'll be good.

Has anyone taken the Technical Writing TECEP online? I'm taking it soon and wondering what it's like. I just did Eng Comp II online as well. Thanks.

I took technical writing with minimal study and got a 93% I used a different textbook that included many of the same topics. The test description from TESC spells it out pretty clearly. If you can write a clear set of instructions and a decent email you'll be fine.

Thanks. It is pretty close to what I do for a living, so I certainly hope I can muster a 70.

I took Tech Writing last night and thought it was easy. So easy in fact that I am now scared I missed something and will fail.
