This is an estimated quick cost comparison between the Pay Per Credit 24cr residency plan [8 TECEPs + CLEP/DSST/Alternate Vendor] and the Enrolled Options degree plan [CLEP/DSST/Alternate Vendor].

Pay Per Credit Tuition using 8 TECEPs: NJ $840 ($105x8) & Out of State $888 ($111x8)
Enrolled Options: NJ $1,691 & Out of State/International $3,154
Fees: Technology Fee $125, Grad Fee $299

So you can see, PPC tuition plan for an out of state/Int'l student would cost approx: $1,187 (888+299) compared to the Enrolled Options tuition $3,578 (3154+125+299). Approx savings $2391 tuition + the cost of omitting 8 CLEP/DSST/Alt Courses from original list = Huge Cost Difference! It's also the best plan for a NJ resident.

Hi Everyone! Thank you guys so much so replying to my thread and your great feedback.
I don't have any previous college experience, so this path is new to me. But thanks to you all, going for a degree is not as cryptic and near financially impossible as a lot of us have believed over the years. This forum has given me great hope, not only for me but for my preteen son, I don't want his college education to leave him with crippling debt. Again, thanks everyone and I'll keep you all updated once I begin with my tests :hurray:

This is my first post on the forum although I have been reading much of the information available regarding TESC's BSBA in GM. At the moment, I am taking care of the pre-reqs at my local CC for transfer as an engineering major. What has caught my attention is the price and possibility of obtaining this degree in record speed. I'm truly amazed at the possibility and feel that the BSBA would be a great asset in my educational portfolio. Although I wouldn't rely on it 100% I feel that it has great value. I'm curious about your need to obtain four degrees at TESC. Have you seen a significant ROI from this endeavor? How do employers view your credentials? One thing that I am a bit worried about is the preparation that the degree will actually provide someone. I find it very difficult to learn Calculus or even Pre-Calculus in a matter of days and wonder if those services such as Aleks or SL due in fact prepare one to perform at the level required for Calculus II or even Calculus based Physics. What are your thoughts? Would you consider the material to be diluted?

I'm really interested in the TESC degree plan. There is a lot of information on here and would like to start on some CLEPS in the future. I'd like your opinion though on your experience as far as employment is concerned after your completion of the four degrees at TESC. If you have a moment to share I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Mike, I am already in my chosen field where my knowledge, diverse training in multiple areas of specialty and experience are well respected. My earning a degree was just checking a box because although I was already at the low end of six figures I could not go much further without a degree. The social science degree was the quickest means to an end, plus I loved the subject matter. When I realized the degree would be completed in a year, I decided to also complete the BSBA (which was actually my first choice). Keep in mind because of my experience in the business world the BSBA was not as interesting or exciting for me as earning the BA Soc Sci degree. The associate's degrees actually qualify bullets on my CV. I was sure to combine TESC OL/GS/epack courses, with community college courses, SL, PF, and exams so completing the degrees was both well rounded and fast.

I am already well respected in my area so the addition of the degree(s) actually had no real positive effect other than making human resources happy and preparing me for future growth. Especially if I should decide upon another career track within the industry, for example working in the field vs office. Finally, regarding ROI, I'm actually well above others in the industry/field with the same title (pay grade top 10 percentile), and my degrees cost 10k. I didn't require a ROI.


Aleks/Straighterline Feedback -

Aleks: I actually really enjoy math and computer applications used for learning. I found Aleks extremely helpful, cheap, and completed all coursework within a month. (18CR for $60=20+40 ace transcript.) Of course the algebras were much faster to move through because the material was constructed quite well to take advantage of build/overlap. I initially teetered between trig and precalc, ultimately settling on precalc. The statistics courses I banged out one after another, intro to stats, beh sciences, then bus stats (which was more difficult). Of course they now all duplicate but at the time I was given credit for both intro and bus stats.

I'm new to ALL of this but I'm completely prepared to take this route for college. I would love to get my BS in business, but my dilemma is knowing which school to choose. I prefer Excelsior over TESC. Does anyone know a degree plan or a thread where one is for EC and their courses? I have yet to find necessary info. And also, I want to go the cheapest route. (Who doesn't?). Does anyone know if the 24 credit hour thing could apply to EC as well? My biggest issue is not knowing for sure wether I can complete the necessary coursework online only. Including the Capstone requirements of EC. Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for the cheapest route, Excelsior wouldn't be my first choice. Their degrees are tailored to require coursework from Excelsior and their tuition is expensive. Being able to take Strategic Management at Penn Foster was a huge selling point for me at TESC.
