Excelsior Business Strategy Course

I've tried searching the forum, and can't seem to get this info.

Since Excelsior are changing their requirements for business degree's as of Sept 1st. The only option after that will be to take their Business Strategy as a class/course.

Has anyone taken this course? Does anyone have a syllabus?
I can't seem to find specific course details on their website.

I'm interested to know:
- how much effort the course will be
- if the exam(s) will be proctored, and how many?
- How do their online courses work e.g. is it paced, can you go out your own speed, can you finish it in a few weeks?

Description: This course is a capstone case study course in managerial decision making intended to integrate previous training in the functional areas of business (accounting, finance, marketing, operations, and personnel). The course focuses on problems from the point of view of the chief executive officer or general manager and is mainly concerned with the design and implementation of corporate strategy.

Note: BUS 495 does not apply to the advanced-level requirement of the Business degree programs. This course satisfies the Business Policy core requirement for the B.S. Business degree programs. For all other degree programs, it will apply as an upper-level free elective.

This is the same info I've seen on their website, and I can't seem to find any more.

I will email the business advisor team and see what they tell me.

Makes me curious if ANYONE has ever actually taken an online course from Excelsior??? (besides info lit)

I just got off the phone after talking to an EC counsellor. He said that there shouldn't be a problem if you are considering transferring credits from another school to satisfy the Business Policy requirement even after 9/1/2007. According to him, the restriction applies to using proficiency exams for satisfying the requirement. If there is one I would rather do that, than pay that $800 for a course

Just so everyone is clear, in case there is confusion. If you are enrolled at Excelsior in the BS program, you can still take any Business Strategy course offered at other instituions, that Excelsior approves, or you can still take the TECEP exam up until September 2008.

If you enroll in the BS program after September 1, 2007 then you must take the Excelsior course. Therefore, if you are in the BS program already, you have been given the next year to finish the course in whatever manner you wish. But starting September 2008, everyone has to take Excelsiors course, not matter when you enroll in the BS program.
