Screwed by TESC in the 11th hour
#1
So i fished my class at TESC and I forwarded over my last ACE transcript to TESC with my MS r2 Vitalization exam and penn foster. TESC eval cam back with CMP-140 for my MS exam. CMP-140 after I had to ask for the description was for an MCSE cert as it clearly talks only about AD tools. I asked for it to be changed to CAP-347 which someone else got here on the forum. It doesn't like up that great but it sure is a hell of a lot better than AD junk. I need this as upper level to graduate. CMP-140 gets me nothing. They said I have to appeal to the dean. Has anyone had luck with this?

Its just frustrating because I get down to the wire and it's such an obvious mistake that they got the tests mixed up. Some whisky and I will be fine.

I hope it works out and goes through. I don't know these kinds of classes, so I don't really have any ideas for a "plan B" but I had a similar situation. I took a class at my local CC with the same name as a 400 level course TESC was offering. I'd asked the advisor about it and everything was a go (nothing in writing- my bad) At the time TESC used to count anything as 200 or higher as "upper level" and my college was calling it 199, so I was very confident. So, I'm sure you can guess what happened....TESC plops it on my transcript as 199! I argued but it didn't matter. So, I'd wasted time sitting through a 199 class for some lousy 100 level credit that I could have tested out of (plus the cost and time!). I feel your pain, really I do. I was ready to throw in the towel. If you feel that way don't. Don't give them that much power over your future, just work a plan B and get it lined up for worst-case and stay focused. Once you're out, you'll write your degree on your resume and someone will post something here that you'll be able to say "hey be careful, let me tell you what happened to me" and someone will learn from it.....hang tough.

thanks for your words of support. I really hope I can get this squared away. It's really an apple and oranges thing. Both fruit but completely different. At least they got it in the CIS section and not BUS or something ;-) at least the course descriptions need to match up right?

I don't know, I've never taken a CIS course, and couldn't even check my email if it wasn't for cookies....I'm no help in the computer field.

When I received my evaluation from TESC, they listed my basic networking class as not fulfilling the degree plan. I decided that in my case it was not worth the trouble to have them fixed that mistake as I found it to be more beneficial to re-take it. It was through that class that I met one of my good friends that I hope to meet one day. Also, at that time, TESC was behind the times and only gave 2 credits. However, most traditional colleges would have given me 3 credits for the same certifications. One other issue that came up is the testing software for the one class had some errors. Thankfully, the professor of that class realized that. So I was able to fix that issue.
