Straighterline.com Digital or Ebooks locator Question - Please!
#11
Hi There,

I am considering taking some more Straighterline courses and would like to go the Chegg route if I do. However, the ISBN numbers on Chegg seem to be different than those on Straighterline and I'm leery of getting the wrong book. I will list the books that I'm thinking of getting below along with their associated courses. If you could please let me know if any of you have actually used the Chegg books mentioned (and whether or not they worked with the courses if so), and if not, whether you think this would be a good way to go. However I do this, I want my remaining courses finished no later than 1-28 (preferably 1-27), so I don't have time to order the wrong thing, spend any length of time finding out it's the wrong thing, and then order the right thing. Sorry, but I have a really tight deadline here. It is definitely possible to achieve this, but everything has to work like clockwork if you know what I mean. Here are the courses/books I'm looking at:

The Science of Nutrition - Contemporary Nutrition 8th edition by Wardlaw | 9780077354817 | Chegg.com

American History II - The Unfinished Nation- A Concise History of the American People- Volume II 5th edition by Brinkley | 9780073307022 | Chegg.com

Western Civilization I - The Western Experience Volume A- Antiquity and the Middle Ages 9th edition by Chambers | 9780073261249 | Chegg.com

Western Civilization II - The Western Experience Volume II 10th edition by Chambers | 9780077291167 | Chegg.com

Many thanks in advance for all your help!

The Science of Nutrition book that Chegg offers is the exact book that SL requires.... Online Intro to Nutrition Course for College Credit | StraighterLine

I bought the books I needed for Western Civ. I&II from Coursesmart.

I really appreciate your help. The nutrition book was the most expensive of all of them, so I really like the idea of being able to use that. I'm sorry I didn't think to ask about these sooner, but better late than never. Thanks bunches once again. I know this is going to sound strange, but once I log into my Coursesmart account it won't show me anything other than the books on my bookshelf. I can't see how to search for other books. I tried logging out and going to coursesmart.com, but it shows me no place to search or see other books. Just FYI, I'm guessing that this is cookie-related or something because I never could get a search bar in CourseSmart in Firefox. I had to open it in Internet Explorer (or Exploder as some of us like to say ;-) to get the search bar, but I have resolved this. I just thought I'd post the solution as well.

Many thanks again for your help.

Just to note, the e-book that you can buy from SL, comes from Coursesmart, and can be purchased cheaper, directly from their site.

Not only that, for texts, a lot of times you can get them used on Amazon. I purchased the philosophy text from amazon for $0.94 +$3.99 shipping used while it was going for $50.00+ at SL.

I used the textbook for the first Straighterline course I did, and then afterwards I got the ebook as well. It was nice to be able to compare the two. I'm glad I did it that way as in that case the ebook didn't have the glossary--which I used rather extensively during the quizzes and final. However, since then I don't see the need to use both, and the ease of searching the ebook makes it my preferred choice if I am only going to use one source. Many thanks though. I do appreciate your help.

All the ones I have taken so far are multiple choice: psychology, western civilization 1, us history, environmental science, ethics, religion, philosophy, anthropology...classes like English 101 and Intro to Communications will have multiple choice quizzes and exams as well as assignments.

This worked earlier but now it says something about no bandwith Sad. I think I was able to save on my home computer.

I found a couple on Amazon or Chegg. However, for some reason the ebooks always cost more than renting the physical books. That is very annoying.
