Confusion on what TESC classifies as 'Option' requirement.

We are planning my dd's Associate Degree with TESC but can't figure out which CLEPs are required for the 'Option's credits'
The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree:

II. Option (21 credits) - What does this mean? ANY CLEP test will do to fill these credits?
IV. Free Electives (15 credits) - Is this also any CLEP or DSST test?

Any light you can shine on this will help us greatly.

From the way the website reads, the option credits would be credits in whatever subject the Applied Associates Degree falls under. For example, if it were Computer Studies then computer classes and exams would fit. I am sure some of our TESC pros will weigh in.

Exactly as UptonSinclair said, the option is based on what degree you are looking at and the specific courses might default by themselves or be made to fit by working with an advisor on a plan. As for free electives, they can be any exam or any other college credits not used elsewhere in the degree. Many on this site have completed the AAS in Environmental Safety & Security Technologies since you can use FEMA courses (free to complete) for the option courses. Outside of that degree, people have completed the others so you just need to tell everyone here which one you are looking at and the advice should be available.

Earning Credit in the AAS Option:
Students usually enter with many of the credits in the career track completed, but not always, from military or civilian training. If the option has not already been completed, students may often use Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) to gain college credit for their knowledge. While there are some examinations in auto mechanics and electronics, there are few distance learning opportunities in most of the AAS career tracks. Credits in general education and free electives may be earned by a wide variety of methods.

You can use any computer course with the prefix of CIS, COS, CMP, or CAP. With TEEX, you can earn 4 CIS credits for free. The TECEP for Networking Technology will give you 3 CMP credits. The DSST for Management Information Systems is worth 3 CIS credits. You can either take the DSST for Intro to Computing or the CLEP for Information Systems and Computer Applications for 3 COS credits (they duplicate). Some people have earned a few CAP and programming credits with ACE-approved, Penn Foster courses. Javaonline.org offers NCCRS-approved programming courses at a low price.
