Does anyone know of a faster online English course equivalent to EC's 15-week expository writing requirement? I am very good at producing essays as English is my strong suit. So I really don't want to spend 15 weeks in a class proving that I can produce a quality research paper, especially since EC accepted in transfer a nursing course from another BSN program in which I landed an A. But this writing requirement is a pre-req to ALL of their nursing courses.

If it's Excelsior, they should take their own UExcel test - $99 - it's 2 hours and 2 essays.

MS - Management and Leadership, WGU 2022
BS - Liberal Arts - Depths in Healthcare and Psychology, Excelsior College 2014
Certificate - Workers Comp Admin, UC Davis Extension, 1995
AA - Licensed Vocational Nursing and Selected Studies, Mesa College 1989
Certificate - Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN), Mesa College 1977

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

Thanks Denise. I will ask my advisor again because last week, she told me that there was no exam equivalent to the 15 week course. I'm sending an email right now.

Thanks again!!

I have wondered about how to fill this requirement myself. I still don't have an answer. I know you understand this but others may not; Excelsior's BSN program requires the second 3 credits in writing to be upper-division. This eliminates English Composition II and Straighterline as an option. The information in the nursing catalog is a bit vague but it is clear regarding the level of course needed.

If earning an MSN is something you're already considering, it might be faster to pursue a BS in Liberal Studies first. You can accelerate this degree through testing and by other means found in this forum. Then apply to Excelsior's MSN program.
CLEP: Principles of Management (70), Info Systems and Computer Applications (61), Principles of Marketing (66), American Government (52), Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (56), Introductory Sociology (69), Introductory Psychology (69), Introduction to Educational Psychology (68), Human Growth and Development (68) DSST: Drug and Alcohol Abuse (60), Here's to Your Health (455), Introduction to World Religions (469), Management Information Systems (415), Ethics in America (443), Criminal Justice (434) ECE: Abnormal Psychology (B), Organizational Behavior (B) STRAIGHTERLINE: Business Statistics, Medical Terminology

BS Nursing, WGU - In progress
BS Liberal Studies, Excelsior - Need Capstone, on hold.
AS Nursing, St. Petersburg College - Dec. 2014
AA, Coastline Community College - Aug. 2009

Double-checked with the advisor and UExcel is a no-go as far as the English they offer. The BSN English has got to be a more advanced writing course.

To Gaz: Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely look into the BSLS degree! I never thought of that.....

Gaz,
Is this the route you are currently using to finish the MSN through Excelsior college? If so, are there any other classes that would need to be taken to begin the MSN program once the BSLS is completed? I had never thought about another route like this, and I'm trying to research it for the MSN (Education). Thanks for the idea!
