Long story short, I've enrolled twice at TESC since 1989...last time my tuition year expired just before I could slip under the wire with Principles of Statistics to graduate. Now I'm ready to take the DSST exam and I'm hoping (against hope) that there's some way other than paying a new year's out-of-state tuition and all the associated fees just to open the door long enough to get the (hopefully passing) grade on the transcript to get the degree. If it must be, then okay. But before I resign myself to paying out a few thousand bucks for this, anyone have any wisdom for me? TIA.

Take the test first. In fact, take a few DSST and CLEP tests just for fun, then enroll and present your transcript complete with whatever test they might require!

Take DSST.
If you pass, do what you need to to graduate.
If you fail, go straight to ALEKs and sign up for one of their statistics classes ($20 a month, TESC accepts their ACE reviewed courses).
If you want to skip straight to ALEKs, you could also do that.
