Be honest...on a scale of "ready for afternoon tea with the queen" to "oh dear God, I hope noone calls the Hoarders show on me" how messy is your house when you're getting ready for a test? I was looking around today and holy cannoli - this place is a disaster. Between taking care of the kids, work, and school I haven't picked up GI joes all week, did the absolute bare minimum of laundry and went with paper plates because I couldn't jam even one more dish into the dishwasher and I just didn't have the energy to handwash or unload the machine. Off to clean this place up and do some laundry so I don't have to buy new work clothes on the way to work. Again.
Please tell me I'm not alone!

I'm like this now because of work and graduate school. It'll probably get worse soon since I'm preparing to complete some science prerequisites for a PhD program. It doesn't help that I show signs of having ADHD.

My house is "ready for afternoon tea with the queen" :coolgleam:
Of course I only moved in 9 months ago, I do not work since moving here, my last degree was finished 3 months ago and only my husband and I lived here until last week.
Now if you asked me that question a year ago the answer would have been "oh dear God, I hope noone calls the Hoarders show on me" :reddevil:
While I was finishing my BA and working and taking care of 2 grown kids, I decided if they wanted a clean house they could do it themselves I just did what I needed. Houses will always be there, now you need to take care of your kids and your degree.

When I finished a few months ago, it took weeks of steady scrubbing before I could stand looking at the place again. We could have named our dust bunnies. My husband was in charge of cleaning while I was in school, and his definition of clean is definitely different from mine. Since then, I've made it a mission to stay on top of cleaning, but we do have pockets of mess where we're working on home projects. I'd say we fall somewhere in a comfy middle ground between afternoon tea with the queen and Hoarders depending on the room.

My dust bunnies do have names and they have multiplied just like the real thing! I'm looking forward to this summer when I will finally be done with school after 4 yrs and I will be finished with several committees I'm on at work so I will actually have my summer off. I plan to clean my house top to bottom and finally see it again after all these years. I actually think during my heavy testing days someone did come by from the hoarders show, but we haven't seen him since. Maybe I will uncover him when I get a chance to clean, I just hope that by the time I find him we will no longer qualify to be on the show!
