Tesc - almost done, help me figure out what to take?
#1
I am almost done with my BA in Psychology from TESC. This is a list of whats left:

21 credits of Psychology Electives (18cr must be 300/400 level, 3 credits can be 100 level)
3 credit - Experimental Psychology
5 credits - FREE Electives
3 credits - Liberal Arts Capstone

Now with the dreaded LA Capstone requirement that I dropped the ball on (forgot to submit payment to continue enrollment and let it expire under the old plan that would have grandfathered me in), I suppose I have to take the Capstone online at TESC. I planned on taking something online from TESC anyway bc I want a GPA from them but I had planned on doing another (much easier) course. Absolutely dreading the Capstone. Should I be? Anyone have firsthand knowledge of it?

The FREE Electives I thought I would do with FEMA since they are so fast and easy and FREE!!

For the rest, I want to 'TEST OUT', so really what Im wondering is where should I take my Experimental Psych and what and where should I do for the other 21 Psych Electives?

PLEASE HELP!??

Thanks!

This is why I made this thread, which no one will make a sticky for whatever reason.

Well for 3 LL credits, the obvious choice would be CLEP Psychology. As for the UL credits, first check out DSST Organizational Behavior because it is accepted at TESC as PSY-361 so there's 3 credits. Btw, I found that here: DANTES

Next, look at ECE Exams for 12 more UL credits:

Psychology PSYX-310* Abnormal Psychology (459) 3.0 / U
Psychology PSYX-315* Psychology of Adulthood & Aging (355) 3.0 / U
Psychology PSYX-325* Social Psychology (357) 3.0 / U
Psychology PSYX-365* Research Methods in Psychology (356) 3.0 / U

The last 3 credits you'll probably have to take a course through TESC, LSU, BYU, etc. I personally do not know of any other testing options for those last 3 UL credits you need.

There's no need to take a course anywhere else. The psychology degree accepts the Substance Abuse test. Fundamentals of Counseling is transcribed as PSY-331, but you might have to get an advisor to plan it that way. I temporarily had Psychology as a major of choice before I switched to Social Science. I transferred a substance abuse course and it went into the psychology area of study even though it does not have a psychology prefix. It also fits into the Criminal Justice area of study.

Sanantone,

Regarding the BA in Psychology, on the website under this specific program it states 'Courses transferred to Thomas Edison State College are equated to the following levels: 100, 200, 300 or 400. A minimum of 18 credits equating to 300 or 400 are required.' , which I know youre aware of. I always interpreted this to mean that it applied to the Psych Electives. However, youre interpretation is that it applies to the entire Area of Study section. Have you clarified that with the school itself? It really could be more clear.

Also, with the new LA Capstone requirement, it really is not possible to completely test out of the BA in Psych degree, is that right? Or do you know of a course that could taken in place of that capstone??

Thanks!
