TESC math requirement for AA
#1
What is the lowest level math course that TESC accepts to satisfy their math requirement for an AA? I can't seem to find a straight answer as to whether it is college algebra or pre-calculus.

I'm still in the early stages of researching whether I should enroll at TESC or whether I should attend my local CC and take B&M math courses for the next few semesters. I currently have about 40 credits from various schools and sources but haven't taken math since high school. Thanks.

Since you are asking about an AA, both of these would be considered college-level mathematics. If you do decide to finish your AA through TESC I highly recommend using ALEKS.com to obtain your math credits. You may even be able to do Intermediate Algebra to satisfy the requirements, but I'm not certain that is still okay as it once was so check with TESC.

It is actually "Intermediate Algebra" that would work. It is lower credit than the regular Algebra course and you can complete it with ALEKS.com and transfer it in with ACE Credit (do a search of this site for more info on that).

They do have a Beginning Algebra but it is not accepted for College Level (at least with ALEKS).

Here are the "easiest" options:

To actually take the course at TESC you can do anything under Math or Statistics from this list:
Thomas Edison State College: General Education Electives

You could also do these courses:
ALEKS intermediate algebra
CLEP college math
ALEKS college algebra
ALEKS algebra w/trig
CLEP algebra
3 ALEKS precal
ALEKS trig
CLEP precalc
ALEKS stats
DSST stats exam
CLEP calculus

*Note that some of these overlap. I'd stick with ALEKS Intermediate Algebra or the CLEP College Math exam. The exception to this advice is if the degree plan asks for a specific course, many degrees ask for Algebra, Precalc, or something else specifically.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.
