The new TESC DSST list that is "current as of July 2012" is different than before in that the Civil War exam is not listed. Has anyone else noticed this? I suspect it is an error, but I don't know.

How odd. I'd call them up because this should be nothing more than an oversight.
It's still found among the available DSST exams:

Also, this exam is still approved by ACE:

I have an update on this! I was looking in the 2012-2013 catalog and noticed that the Civil War DSST was not listed. I called the admissions office and was told that THIS IS CORRECT!! TESC is no longer accepting the Civil War and Reconstruction DSST. Thankfully, it doesn't affect my degree plan too much, but it's still a bummer. I just took this test in April too! They guy on the phone said he didn't know why they weren't taking it any longer. I had sent an email before I called so I'm waiting to hear if I get the same response from my email. Just a heads up to everyone!!

Well, that knocks out three credit hours for me. Did I understand that they counted it as a lower level course anyway? Can it be replaced with Western Europe since 1945?

I just had 4 tests remaining, now it looks like 5. Trying to get everything in before the October deadline. What a bummer!

Yes, I'm pretty sure it was counted as LL credit. I'm not sure if you could replace it with Western Europe. It depends on where you had it in your degree plan. For me I had it as my second US history test under the area of study because I had the US History I test under my social sciences so now I just have to get another social science. It is listed on the degree plan as a history elective so in that case I'm assuming you could just choose a different elective.
Hope this helps!

You might want to ask them about this again - even if you have to speak to someone's superior. I just received my evaluation for a second bachelor's from TESC, this one a BSBA, and under General Education requirements it gives me credit for this exam:
1.. HIS-252... Civil War and Reconstruct 3.00 CR HIS-252 *NE
BA in History, TESC, Graduated September 2010
MA in History, American Public University, currently pursuing

That was my thought too. I still have an email in to TESC and I'm going to ask them if they will still accept it if you took it before July 2012, but I have a feeling it will only be if you were enrolled before then.
