CLEP software has weird scoring??
#1
I took my last practice test today for Western Civ II but instead of using pencil and paper like I usually do for practice tests, I decided to use the software. According to the software's calculations, I got 63 right, 57 wrong which equals out to 52% right and a total score of 48. :willynilly:

A little dose of panic shot through me. This is my deciding factor test. If I didn't do well on it, then I will have to postpone my test for TWO WEEKS. I really don't want to do that. I've already postponed it longer than I'd like.
If I DID do well on the test, then I would be taking it this Friday which is really squeezing it in and I never do as well when I have to squeeze in a test at the last minute.

If I took the test on paper, I would have interpreted 63 correct questions to be a raw score of 57 and that would have been very well enough to pass (almost an A which I haven't had in forever).

Is the software's calculation right? And why does it score differently than what they explain in the book?

Thank you in advance. A little freaked out at that score. O_O

What software are you using? As far as I've heard there is no software that does that accurately, people constantly are surprised by practice exams and how they don't always relate to the real thing. If it isn't from the CLEP official study guide (which doesn't have software) then you have to consider that the test may score you higher or lower than the real test. They are simply tools to study from and once you feel comfortable you should take the real thing.

It's from the REA Western Civ II study guide. Now that I know other people have been having difficulties with it though, I don't feel so freaked out Tongue Thank you for answering so quickly. You have eased my nerves considerably.

I haven't used the REA books but I would have to say that using that, the CLEP study guide, or peterson's exams are all good ideas but only give you ideas on study. I don't believe you can accurately guess your score based on a practice exam, once you're ready give it a shot and don't worry about the software. The real thing is all that matters...

Good Luck
