Has anyone used this service?
For $270 they will assign letter grades to all two-digit DSST exams on a transcript from their school. It seems like an affordable way for those who completely test out @ TESC to show a GPA & for those like me w/ 20 yr old C grades to mitigate their damage.

From what I have read, TESC does not transfer any grades from other schools. TESC GPAs are based soley on courses taken with them. If you apply to graduate school they will determine your GPA based on transcripts from all the schools you have attended.

Correct- TESC does not transfer grades & therefore one will have no GPA if they test out, transfer every credit in, or a combination of the two. I am wondering if an Excelsior transcript w/ graded DSST exams, used for a TESC degree, will be beneficial for graduate programs &/or licenses (i.e. teaching) w/ a floor on GPA.

This might still be interesting depending upon how they transfer from Excelsior to TESC. Are they marked as being CLEP/DSST on the Excelsior transcript? If not, it might look better to have "courses" transferred from Excelsior to TESC rather than CLEP/DSST exams. Has anyone here done this yet?

Not talking about transferring- just using Excelsior transcript service to have, or raise GPA. For example LSAC, the company that calculates GPA for law school admission will use CLEP & DSST if letter grade is listed on a transcript by school; if reported as P or CR,these test results are not used for GPA.
I am wondering if I should take additional two-digit DSST exams solely for purpose of raising GPA.

Hey I was very interested in this awhile ago since I will be graduating with TESC very soon. I was talking to some one over the phone at Excelsior and he was telling me the transcript service was pretty much useless. I was shocked when he told me that but he told me he was being honest and it would just be better if I graduated at EC. He was trying to explain to me employers or others will probably be more interested in where your transcript was conferred at, and that the transcript service was only beneficial for tremendous amount of credit on a transcript and no degree. I told him that I won't be getting a GPA with TESC, and wanted to use EC transcript service for all my Penn Foster grades, and all my RA credits all in one.

Will EC take Penn Foster w/out first going through ACE?
I agree w/ the employer comment, although most of us here will not be asked for GPA from employers; it is grad schools, credential or licensing agencies that require transcripts from every school. If I use this service, I will most likely take one of their exams to justify having a transcript from them.

I understand your thinking about this, I'm just curious how CLEP/DSST exams would appear on the Excelsior transcript. If they are assigned letter grades and not marked as being CLEP/DSST exams for some this might be an attractive option even if these wouldn't have any impact on their GPA. IOW, some employers might prefer to see them as "classes" instead of CLEP/DSST exams on the transcript regardless of the GPA.
UPDATE: When in doubt talk to the source I guess. I decided to call Excelsior and get an answer to my query and the rep told me that CLEP & DSST exams are marked as such on the One Transcript. While they are assigned letter grades, these of course won't do anything for your GPA at another school like TESC once you transfer them. Pity.

Ah I see what your saying. I wonder how an Excelsior one transcript plays out... because all the credits will be on the one transcript including an Excelsior course like you mentioned. But even a few people who graduated from EC and applied for grad school we're told by grad school admissions to send all original transcripts regardless. I think it could work for licensing but not technically for grad school, they would probably want the original source when sending transcripts. But it's worth a try, like I said I am considering doing it just to have a transcript of 120 credits with a GPA. Just in case with employment or a licensing agency.
As far as your Penn Foster question, your suppose to send your ACE transcript and Penn Foster transcript and they'll assign letter grades. I read a few threads where a couple just sent the Penn Foster transcript and Excelsior assigned letter grades without the ACE transcript. I guess it depends on whose evaluating your credits at EC.

Thanks; I did not think an ACE transcript alone would result in a letter grade.
