Quick Penn Foster Question

I know how the whole ACE and transfer policy works. My questions are as follows

1. Is it a correspondence school in that they'll ship me stuff, I do the work and send it back to be graded, or is It self paced all online? Will they send me a book or can I just download it to my computer?

2. I plan on taking 8 classes, so roughly $2,200 ish. Can I do that on their payment plan? Or since I'm not an enrolled student, do I not qualify for that? Can I talk all 8 at the same time?

1. Yes and yes. They are a correspondence school and they will send you the books and exams and you will have to at least mail the proctored exams back. Or rather your proctor will. And yes, you can download the books from the internet (but they'll still send hard copies) and submit your assignments and tests online, except for the proctored final exams. The gotcha is that it depends on the specific courses you take. Some are totally online and don't even require a proctor. Others, the books cannot be downloaded and you have to wait for them - mostly very old courses that haven't been updated in a while. Most courses have the books online and you will only have to have the proctored exam mailed back.

2. No, they will not allow you to do a payment plan if you're not enrolled (at least in my experience). I don't know of any specific limits on the number of individual courses you take but you may have to convince your admissions person that you can handle it.

Also, don't forget to make sure that the courses you take are currently ACE recommended for college credit. Some people have had issue with expired ACE recommendation from Penn Foster.
