So How Do I Register For DSST?

I'm having trouble figuring out how/where to register for DSST exams. I'm sure I'm overlooking something simple. Please advise.

You can find testing centers via the link that clep3705 listed, but generally you arrange a time and register for the actual exam with the testing center directly. The best way to do that is to look up the local test centers via that link and call them (a phone number is usually provided with the contact details) to get info about each center (test schedule, admin fees, restrictions, etc.) and then figure out which one works best for you and your schedule. Many college-based test centers only offer tests to students that are matriculated at that school, and many military-based test centers only offer tests to people who have clearance to get on base, so sometimes this can take some time.

On the up side, in my experience, most places that offer DSST also offer CLEP testing, and sometimes they will proctor ECE or TECEP as well, so if you can find a place that covers all your bases, that is always a good thing.

The link that was provided actually takes you to the testing browser which is where you will eventually have to complete what I call a "registration page." You will need to come up with a username and password, and this will be used each time you take a DSST exam (though completely different if you have taken or plan to take any of the DSST practice exams).

To locate a test center, you can find the "locate an institution" link on DSST's website (DSST - GetCollegeCredit.com). Make sure you only have the box checked in front of the search for those institutions that DELIVER DSST exams (do not have the other box checked). Obviously you will enter at least the state you want to test in. I find it easiest to do this the first time because you can end up wasting a lot of time trying to go city by city in your general area.

If you take the paper version of a DSST test you get more time to complete. The online version of a DSST test is much shorter time wise and much less forgiving. I don't know if DSST has gone all Internet since my last test, but I would recommend going paper version if you can.
