Newbie's TESC Psych BA Plan

Does anybody care to take a look at my plan and tell me how it looks and if I have everything in the proper category. Blue means I haven't completed it yet so any suggestions for an easier route are appreciated. I think my head is spinning a bit from all the forum searching and googling I've been doing. :ack:

Leaving 8 credits left, maybe 6 if those two sciences ones go here? If those extra credits don't go here then I guess I'll throw a straighterline class in here. If they count like I'm hoping I was thinking:

Then take the remaining 9 credits online at TESC, along with the experimental psych class bringing me up to 12 credit hours. So that'd be 4 classes to actually take and get a gpa with.

Which leaves me with 14 hours left. I was thinking about doing FEMA for these? I did one tonight so technically I'm down to 13 left.


& a few questions:

When do I actually apply to TESC? I'm actually enrolled at a CC locally and finishing up my AA at the end of the summer. Do I test out of all the things I'm hoping to first then apply? Do military spouses get the military rate at TESC or no because that would be great. :p

Use the search function and look for lmroberts' posts on getting a Psych degree from TESC through testing.

Macroeconomics would fall under Social Science, not Humanities.

Thanks. Hmm maybe I'll try to CLEP Analyzing & Interpreting Literature for 6 credits and then put one of those other humanities into my general elective area. Editing it now.

I did see that post and have it bookmarked hah. I don't want to test out of it completely though.

I wasn't planning on testing out because I actually want to take a few classes and the pell grant should cover all my major expenses minus books and what not. After doing the math taking a full 24 credit hour course load and getting the full pell grant would be my cheapest option. I'm a stay at home mom so I don't have any pressing need making me want to speed through it.


My degree plan has been tweaked a little and I'm honestly considering going for social science instead of specifically psychology. My goal is to use my bachelors to get licensed to teach social studies once my kids are in school so either of those would work for me. I was going to update the thread a few weeks ago but I realized the edit button was gone. I'm assuming this forum has the thing that locks you out of editing after a certain time period.

I'm taking some community college classes right now so I haven't actually made any progress with testing out. I was planning to start studying for CLEPS once the semester is out next month.


ps: I haven't done one for social science but I could post my spreadsheet for my original psych plan if you want.

I have also looked at changing my degree from History to Soial Science. I am also thinking of adding Social studies to my teaching abilities. I think the social Science degree gives you greatewr flexibility and range.

I think with your Pell grant you need to actually take a minimum of 6 credits a semester so your plan seems good.

You are smart to think ahead and do this while you are home, I wish I had known then what I know now. It is a smart way to prepre yourself for when the kids go to school all day.

I'm not taking any TESC courses because I don't have the patience. I wish I could have a GPA because it can come in handy when applying for internships and federal government jobs. But, right now, I'm really only concerned with getting into graduate school and they'll calculate my GPA from all of my transcripts and there are plenty of other jobs that don't require a GPA. For financial aid, I'm taking community college courses and I'm using ECEs to take care of some of the psychology requirements.

Okay so after this thread getting bumped I took a break from biology homework to revise my degree plan for the more broad social science concentration. If anybody wants to take a peek I'd appreciate it! Feel free to ignore my general electives in blue I just put ones that sounded interesting to me as I went through the course list.
