LSU - Accounting Certification - Courses? - nmunchback - 02-09-2010 Hello all, I have a question and I cannot seem to find the answers by searching. I am in my last semester of my bachelor's degree through Excelsior. I am planning on enrolling into master's program in accountancy as I would like to become a CPA. I have been looking at U of Phoenix's program. I am thinking of taking a course or two this upcoming summer (in graduate studies) and I was curious about LSU. When I looked on the website they do not show that the courses offered are undergraduate courses. I also looked into their accounting certificate and you need a BS or BA in order to be in the certificate program. Therefore to me it would seem like the certificate courses would be considered post-graduate courses. Looking at the courses for the certification, they are the courses offered as individual courses. I know I am probably grasping at straws trying to find a way to complete my master's degree quickly and at a lower cost but I was just wondering if anyone has ever contacted them regarding this type of thing? Thanks, Nichole LSU - Accounting Certification - Courses? - tbradford1 - 02-09-2010 I don't think that UoP would accept non-graduate level courses as grad level. But if you want to reduce your cost you could ask them about credits from this program: UWF - Department of Accounting & Finance - Certificate Programs - Accounting I would also recommend that you look at other online MAcc programs, particularly those that are AACSB-accredited. I have an MBA/ACC from UoP but I am looking into alternative programs that have this accreditation because it is very important in the accounting world. I would recommend looking at Stetson University, University of Connecticut, and Sacramento State. These are all around the same price as UoP or cheaper and they have the AACSB accreditation -- they also all offer online programs. More like a "fifth-year senior". They would actually fit nicely into an accounting concentration at the undergrad level at EC, and are self-paced. Phillip |
