DSST Passing Grades - testers2 - 01-01-2010 One of the brick and mortar colleges that my son is considering attending lists passing scores for the DSST tests as 45-48 (for a few tests he's considering). As I read the forum on these various tests, I'm seeing passing scores of 437, 482, etc. How does this relate to the 45-48 that I'm seeing at the college website? Has DSST changed their scoring methodology lately> Thanks for your responses!! I'm thoroughly confused at this point!! Amy S. Has DSST changed their scoring methodology lately> Some colleges will only give a pass/fail, so it doesn't matter. You just need to get over 400, or over 45 (or 48 etc. whichever is listed.) Other colleges accept letter grades A, B, and C to be calculated into the GPA. In that case if the score system is based on two digits (45, 48), then the letter grade is based on a chart. For example, if a 45 if a pass ©, then a 54 is an A. You'll have to check the school's categories for A, B, and C. Excelsiors' is here: https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/Excelsior_College_Examinations/Using_Exams_and_Assessment_at_EC/Exam_Cut_Score_Charts Now, if the scoring system is based on three digits (400), then the grade is always pass/fail. So whether you get a 401 or a 478, you will just get a "pass" with no letter grade. DSST Passing Grades - peace123 - 01-01-2010 this link gives you what ace recommends for the DSST's as passing. As always colleges can accept the ACE recommendation or set their own. http://www.getcollegecredit.com/downloads/ACE%20Credit%20Recommendation.pdf The scores with 3 digits are due to refreshed versions of the exam being issued and the older versions being pulled. Has DSST changed their scoring methodology lately> Hi Amy, DSST recently (well, last year) went in and "refreshed" several of their tests. When they did that, the scoring system for those particular tests changed from the 2-digit to the 3-digit value. So, for example with Principles of Finance if it used to be that you needed a 45 to pass you now need a 400 since that exam was "refreshed". Does that make sense? Only certain exams were reviewed and updated. Any exam with a 2-digit score is still the "old" version. I hope this helps. Kelly |
