College Algebra CLEP - walkthewalk - 12-14-2009 I am a college freshmen and I am trying to get the college algebra clep out of the way with over my christmas break. I took algebra 1,2 and trig in high school, but I seem to forget math very quickly so I have to brush up a little on the basics. We never really got much into logarithms, so I have to learn that completely. I already have the REA book, but not the disk with the practice tests on it. I have heard that the CLEP Professor videos are pretty much the way to go for college algebra. I also found these video's and I was watching a few last night... Virtual Math Lab - College Algebra They seem to be allright. My question is: Will the virtual math lab videos along with the petersons tests alone be enough to study from or do I need to pay $30 for the clep professor videos? Do the virtual math lab videos cover everything on the test? If the clep professor videos are a lot better, I dont mind paying the $30 but I was just wondering if they are really worth it compared to the VML videos. And I was also wondering about the practice tests.. I got the REA disk with the book but I lost it. Should I just use the petersons tests or are the REA tests on the disk a lot better? Thanks and good luck to everyone! College Algebra CLEP - Ruddigore - 12-14-2009 walkthewalk Wrote:I already have the REA book, but not the disk with the practice tests on it. CLEP Professor's College Algebra comprised 75% of my preparation, most of which happened in a one and a half week period. walkthewalk Wrote:I also found these video's and I was watching a few last night...I had the Virtual Math Lab College Algebra course bookmarked, but I never ended up using it. The CLEP Professor program, which is geared specifically towards passing the CLEP exam by a comfortable margin, was enough. walkthewalk Wrote:And I was also wondering about the practice tests.. It includes the exact same tests as the book, just with automatic timing and scoring. Use the Peterson's exams! I didn't have access to them at the time (or just ended up not using them), so who knows how they could have helped me! The REA tests were pretty much like the real exam, if a tad harder. Hope it goes well, R. College Algebra CLEP - ideafx - 12-14-2009 I used ALEKS to study for the College Algebra CLEP. It took me 230+ hours to complete the entire pie (took up all my free time for 5 weeks), but I passed with a 60 and actually knew algebra well enough to begin studying for the calculus CLEP. College Algebra CLEP - walkthewalk - 12-15-2009 Has anyone used more than one of these sources and could comment on which is the best? College Algebra CLEP - walkthewalk - 12-15-2009 Do you have to get the CD rom for that clep professor or can you download it? I dont have time to wait for it to come in. Thanks for that bit. I was starting to think something was wrong at 56% and 140 hours. |
