Can you do three cleps in a day? - Johanna - 10-18-2006 I am scheduled to take German and also social science/history this Friday. I am debating adding intro sociology to it but am concerned about fatigue. Has anyone done three exams in one day? It could be rewarding - possibly 21 credits in one day - but I don't want to over-reach. What are your thoughts? (other than 'she's got to be crazy' ) Can you do three cleps in a day? - Blue - 10-18-2006 it's possible to take 3 exams in one day but i don't think it'll be in your best interest to do so, esp for the third exam. i think you'll be tired by your third exam just b/c that's after 3 hours of testing. i'm not underestimating your ability but i think you'll do better if you wait to take the third exam the next day. =] sanity first ^_~ Can you do three cleps in a day? - MagicATC - 10-18-2006 I say go for it! its not as bad as you think. I've done it but make sure you think you can pass and take a good break before the third one. Just tell yourself its for 21 credits and you will feel relief when its over. Schedule two and go for the third if they let you and if you still feel up to it. As for reality???? It's not my cup of tea - Can you do three cleps in a day? - snazzlefrag - 10-18-2006 Johanna Wrote:I am scheduled to take German and also social science/history this Friday. (other than 'she's got to be crazy' ) Hi Johanna, There have been a couple of times that I have taken three exams in one day before. It is doable, but it is a gamble. If you pull it off successfully, you will be over the moon. But if you don't, you will be kicking yourself for not taking it slow and steady. My advice will always be to spread the exams out whenever it's possible. Even if you take one exam a day for three days. The extra night's sleep in between will ensure you are on top form for each individual exam. However, I would obviously be a hyprocrite to say that you should never do three exams in one day. If you have studied equally well for all three exams, they are all subjects that you are comfortable with, and you are extremely confident that you can pass all three, then by all means give it a shot. But know that it IS a gamble, and it may or may not pay off for you. Finally, there are some exams that you would be well advised NEVER to even consider taking at the same time as other exams. They are just too difficult in their own right, and require your full focus and attention. So, if you do decide to double up, or triple up, make sure you choose your exam combinations very wisely. Magic raises a good point, I actually pulled out of taking my third planned exam of the day once. The first two just drained me so much that I was no longer prepared to accept the gamble for the third exam. The risk out-weighed the potential reward. Depending on how flexible your testing center is, you could actually schedule all three exams, and then make a final decision after each exam based on how you are feeling at that point in time. It's always better to be safe than sorry. Yeah, reality is a whole different ballgame. The BAin4weeks degree plan is more of a theoretical scenario, to show us how the process of earning a degree via testing might work, than an actual schedule to follow literally. The author of the site didn't actually take all those exams in the prescribed time-frame either. To do so would require studying for, taking, and passing 2 exams every single weekday for four weeks straight. Even under the most perfect of conditions, this would be an untenable proposition. The degree plan works, the order of the exams is feasible, and the advice about each exam is generally sound. But the time-frame Lawrie Miller describes on his web site is more of an organizational tool to succinctly present the information than an actual workable schedule. But hey, if anybody is up for the challenge of passing 2 exams every day for an entire month, I would follow their progress with great interest and excitement. It would be one heck of an achievement, and I would be the first to call Oprah to schedule a well-earned appearance for them on her show. hilarious Twice now, I have managed to pass five exams in five days, but it's not for the faint of heart, and my brain was mashed potatoes by Friday afternoon. I can only imagine what it would be like to try and pass ten exams every single week for four consecutive weeks. Maybe it could be done, and you would have a degree one month from now. But you would very likely regress into a saliva-dribbling, goo-goo-ga-ga-speaking, thumb-sucking, diaper-wearing, fetal state by the end of that very same month. hilarious Good luck with that, Snazzlefrag Can you do three cleps in a day? - sirjake - 10-18-2006 My wife has passed three cleps in a day two times. 18 credits one time and 15 the other. This because the CLEP testing center is 40 minutes from here and she didn't want to waste gas money (and because she already had pretty much mastered the subjects in high school). Can you do three cleps in a day? - Johanna - 10-19-2006 My testing center always needs plenty of advanced warning because the computer used for clep is also in an area where regular students come in for mentoring. So the reason I am even considering it has more to do with scheduling than with trying to accomplish some feat. I want to get my degree and would rather be able to do one exam a day, but with that testing center there is no way I can go in every day or even every other day so I need to maximize what I can get done. I guess I will go in for my two scheduled exams tomorrow morning (German and Soc.Science/Hist) and if I have energy and they have computer time available, I will give Intro Soc. a shot as well (lots of overlap with soc. science/hist). The other day I did a Petersons soc.science/hist mock exam and the sociology questions on it were tougher than on the intro soc. exam, I swear. Is that true in real life as well? Can you do three cleps in a day? - pavlc - 10-21-2006 I'm in the same boat. The testinng center is a bit of a journey and so I took 3 cleps in on day about two weeks ago. American Gov, Information Systems and Sociology (in that order). I picked Soc. due to the fact that I was going to take three exams and read it is the easiest. It was the right choice. If you are adding a third, that is the one to take. Take a break between exams and walkaway 6 hours later with 9 credits. You will start to lose focus about half way through the third exam, but be aware of it and shake it off and finish up. |
